Ease of Use : 8
The Kn-650 is fairly standard late 80's early 90's stuff. There is no function to edit patches on this but it has a variety of pretty decent sounding patches; coupled with the on board effects (basically chorus and reverb (8 types with depth control- fairly cool)can punch up the sounds a bit. The manual is somewhat helpful for functions such as the sequencer and the like but it is a pretty striaghtforward instrument.

Features : 7
The unit is 323 note polyphonic which is fair for today's standards and was probably pretty hot back then as I remember. The keys feel fairly sturdy and have some meat on them. Not weighted or anything but has a good feel. Sequencer on board is typical (Casio, Yamaha, you get the point) with a reported 2000 note capcity (I wonder if that includes on/off count as well- we'll find out)

Expressiveness/Sounds : 8
It is a good feeling keyboard and tends to match my style of music well (shoegazer- yeah I said shoegazer so sue me!!!) Anyway the main voices such as piano. strings, etc are typically MOR. HOwever I must say that the bass patches are very good and still punchy after all these years.(one particular bass patch chopper bass- think opening theme to Seinfeld)

Reliability : 9
The thing appears to be made out of the stuff black boxes on airplanes are made out of. The thing is very rugged and shoyuld be able to take a significant amount of abuse. Though I don't anticpiate going Ike Turner on it- I could and it would keep going and going and going.....I don't gig anymore- haven't in 20+ years but could see using it as a stand alone or with some post-enhancements.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them- no opinon

Overall Rating : 9
This board is very remeniscent of the mid-90's series of Yamaha keyboards (330,430 and 630). I remember really wnating one of that series of boards because the sounds and functions at the time were really good for the time. Thus the old bugaboo of paying for it came into play and I found myself behind the controls of a Kawai PH-50 Pop Synth (with a controller board- not bad). But this board has all of that functionality and is a little easier to use and very responsive.

You can't edit patches at all exept for the 3 diffrent effects. The manual really is quite good, easy to read and understand.

Features : 4
The polyphony is 32, and the keyboard has tree effects, really easy to use... The low downs of the keyboard is that there is no MIDI, you can connect it to a another KN650 but that's it. It has a 8 track sequencer, not very good but easy to use though. Yes, pressure sensetive keys but no after touch.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 9
The insstrument quality is good, better than you could expect. It has about 200 diffrent instruments and types and they are all reallly good exept for the disorted guitar which isn't that outstanding. In this category it's very good everall.

Reliability : 6
Unless you unplugg the batteries and power cable it's bullet proof. If you do that all your songs (up too three) will be deleted.

Customer Support : 5
Don't know, haven't got any problems.

If you don't want to spend too much money and don't want to compose it's great, the bad thing is that i want to make music and for that purpose it's nonthing you should consider buying. But the sounds are really good and if you just want to play...at least try this one out!
