The right sound for you is in there somewhere. It takes a little tweaking to find the sound you like, and one mans bliss is another mans cheese. I find the best sound on this is when you select the first two banks A and B, add tremolo with the mixer channels the two channels are plugged into, one panned hard right and the other panned hard left.

With this setting the bass is the fattest bass for left hand bass on any keyboard. It could give the fender two octave bass KB with the keys inversed, or the phat bass on a Arp a run for their money. I should back up and say, that depends on the amp and or PA rig you are plugged into. I run into a full rack with Sub woofers as well as Mackie mains.

Features : 10
The action on this thing is great, the weighted keys on the CP-25/35 series feel fabulous. I love practicing on this for while then when I play my Hammond B3 or XB-2 for that matter, it's almost effortless.

I seem to have a clink under my G3, I don't know if a felt is going bad or if a pot seed got under there "some how". ;)

Expressiveness/Sounds : 8
Add the sustain pedal and this thing sings the sustain is adjustable. Some claimed that the tone is constant, not true if you run into a quality sound source. The keys are touch sensitive, well to a degree.

Reliability : 10
So far so good, I'm not quite the KB player I wish I was. I started out buying analog gear for my band. I'm an analog freak. Our actual KB player in my band, has a storage unit with Arps, a Prophet 5, the original Kruzweil, and alot of other vintage keys. Why aren't we using those? Well they all have issues and need fixed in some way or another. This thing looks like it is built to go on for ever. Our KB player was around when all of the vintage gear he has was new. late 70's through the 80's. He thinks this KB is way under ratted and doesn't understand why he never heard of them, before I bought one.

If this was lost I'd buy another one most definitely.
I only paid $100 on Ebay, and that is the going rate for this way under rated KB. I paid more for shipping. $175 as it is heavy 100lbs

It is quickly becoming part of our sound, it does the piano(such as it is) in our arsenal and plays just great with the Hammond tonewheel sound.

It really couldn't get much easier. It's nothing but a few buttons and some knobs.

The tremelo and flanger are great. The 5th and octave features are pretty rich as well.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
It's much easier to think about this keyboard the way a guitarist would think about an electric guitar. I use it with a Roland JC-120 guitar amp and it sounds amazing; so warm, bright and bassy. Add a couple guitar pedals and there is no limit to what genre it can be played with. I mainly play electronica, blues, and funk so I use a Line 6 DL4 a Cry Baby Wah-Wah and a basic volume pedal that goes into the Tremelo jack. With a little tweaking, you can get sounds that are reminiscent of a Hammond B3, a Wurly and a Moog. The keys feel nice under you fingers; they're very reactive and also velocity-sensetive. The harder you play, the brighter the tone.

Reliability : 10
This thing is rock-solid. Gig without a backup, worry-free. It also weighs a whole lot so get some roadies if possible.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I'm sure they're nice people but I've never had a problem with it.

Overall Rating : 10
Out of eight keyboards and electric pianos this is my instrument of choice. I always get comments on it's sound quality and versatility between genres of music; it's pretty damn cute, too. I would probably spontaneously combust if it were stolen.

Very easy to use, plug and play. Couldn't get much simpler. The all in one case is cool too, a bit heavy though(95lbs total).

Features : 9
The polyphony is adaquate and the keyboard action is GREAT. These wieghted keys feel SO much better than the crappy plastic ones on some other keyboards. Tremolo and Flanger are nice. 4 different sounds with 4 different variaties each. You can play all 4 at the same time.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 9
Electronically sounding, if you looking for an acoustic piano sound, this is not for you. I can actually duplicate many video game songs on this. But overall its sounds really good and strong.

Reliability : 10
This thing is a tank. Mine is in great condition. After very being much abused, and being 22 years old, mine still has nothing broken or wrong with it. Dont need to worry about having a backup

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't delt with Yamaha, but supposively service manuals are still available.

Overall Rating : 9
If this piano was stolen, I would buy it again, but prolly upgrade to the CP35(more features). Very easy to play and use. Plus, they are cheap! WEIGHTED KEYS!

This Baby is a Breeze!!! Set it up, plug it in, and go. Being able to store the cable, pedal, and legs in the top of the case is great.

Features : 9
Weighted keys are GOD!! No-Midi, boo-hoo!!(sarcasm) I don't care I use this as a gig axe. Being able to plug in headphones and practice all night is also a plus. Oh, yeah Flanger, tremolo, blah, blah, blah
P.S. This was one of the first keyboards to have velocity sensitive keys, nifty!!

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
I will admit some of the sounds are limited through headphones, but...hooked up to my P.A. this thing is a beast. Almost sounds as good as a CP-70, for a lot less money, and backache! Go from piano to clavi, to Bootsy Collins Funkdafied at the touch of a button. Awesome sound for what it is. Bottom line.

Reliability : 10
I would go to war with it. With the top on and sealed down i think I could use it as a sled in the snow. he he. But seriously Its built like a tank, I have no backup, see no reason why.

This thing is great for a beginning gig playing piano man, or woman!! The true Piano tones when run through a nice P.A. are outstanding. Big enough on top to hold another keyboard, or plenty of beer, incense, and candles.

Keyboard is piano-like, but a little looser. Built in flanger and tremolo are great, you can really make it growl in the bass range. (I can virtually duplicate the guitar riff sound in "Why can't this be love") No expansion/expression capabilities other that tremolo, but the knobs and filters do allow sound shaping on the fly if you desire. No MIDI, no sequencer.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 7
Good all-around electric piano and novelty/analog axe. Can approximate Rhodes, Farfisa, VOX and Wurly sounds well. Good level of warmth, especially in the lower octaves - makes a good bass accomp. to a string pad riff.

Reliability : 10
Rock solid instrument. Well built, sturdy, can hold a heavy synth on top witn ont complaints, could probably survive a beer spill (although I haven't tried) Have gigged without backup (although if you gig a lot you might want a back-brace! This thing is heavy!)

Customer Support : No Opinion

I probably wouldn't replace if lost or stolen - in fact, I'm looking to sell it! But it hase been worth every penny I paid. I've been playing for over 30 years, and this has been a part of my studio since 1986. I also own an alpha-Juno-2, D110, Matrix 1000 and TR 505 modules, Tascam 4-track, and PC based sequencing gear. I love my CP-25 for the warmth it can give, the keyboard action, the fact that it doubles as a stand for another synth/computer/you name it, and the fact that it was the first decent keyboard I bought after college. Many of my original songs started on (and were inspired by) the CP-25. Good composer's keyboard, especially for ballads! If it had MIDI, I'd keep it forever!

Ease of Use : 10
This horse is very easy to use. Straight foward design with a few knobs and buttons. The presets range from warm rhoades to cheese synth. You can have up to four sounds playing at one time. Each sound has four variations. (a,b,c,d) You can have the four sounds at once but only one variation at a time. And changes in variation effect all sounds. Very old school digital. FM Tone Generator.

Features : 5
It does have polyphony limits. There is a button that when pressed doubles up the sound you are using. Without the doubling up it gets about 12 note polyphony and with the double it gets about 8 note polyphony. The keyboard action is good. Weighted keys nice feel and response. Velocity Sensitive. It has a flanger and a tremolo effect.
You can double up sounds. You can play up to four sounds at the same time. Not sure why you would want to unless busting out on some avant garde action. No midi. No sequencer. It is a standard electronic piano. Portable. Very Heavy. But it makes you look good on stage. I hate having a portable keyboard thats all dinky and this cheesey stand. The cp25 has some bulk. It has treble and bass knobs. The tremelo has a speed knob and a depth knob. You have a pitch mod knob for each channel. There are two channels. It has a button to push to add a 5th and another to add a 8th. Good for techno electro sounds.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 7
The sounds are very digital yet warm an some sounds. The first and second sounds are very rhoadish in all their variations. Very warm. With the tremelo perfect for jazz or rock. Then the third and fourth are more clavi sounding. Or should I say Digi Clavi. And with the variations you can have some electro funk sounds. Suprisingly warm dynamic cheese sounds. It does sometimes sound organish. But again with the tremelo its a nice sound. You have instant access to all the knobs so you can change the sound quickly and fluidly.

Reliability : 8
It is very strong and reliable but mine is a little worn. The button to add the 5th note is wiggin out. But the thing is 20 years old. And the only thing wrong is one button? It is heavy duty and gives you muscles carrying it around.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No upgrades. Its hard to find anything on these machines.

Overall Rating : 10
It is definatly worth what I paid! I feel that I have been blessed to have come across this monster. Sure I would rather have a old rhoades. But for a hundred bucks you are not even gonna come close. I perform is a bluesjazz fusion band and it is perfect, I would like a real piano sound sometimes. So I bought a psr280. It sits nicely on top.

This is an electric piano with weighted action keys. It's built in a case and the stand is attached to the inside of the box. There's plenty of room on top of it for beer or why not an additional keyboard. It sounds really mellow and cool, it has two "tone generators" that can be set with 1 of 4 "waves" and then you can detune them to get that nice, psychadelic sound. It also has an on board tremolo and flanger.

Features : 2
It seems to have unlimited polyphony. It has no expansion capabilities. It has a tremolo and a flanger. It does not have midi. It has no sequencer.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 8
This instrument can't store any sounds but they may be altered in a wide variety of ways. It's very suitable for soul and mellow kinda jazz and also that "doors" kinda sound. Sometimes it sounds like an organ... The keyboard is one of the nicest I've tried and I've tried many...

Reliability : 10
Yes I can. Products back then were built like tanks. Yeas I would.

It's a really great vintage electric piano, comparable with those old 73's aand wurlitzers.
