Ease of Use : 10
The few presets it has are good.
Non edit
Never used the manual exc. performing a split.

Features : 9
I believe poly is 64. Action is superb and main reason I purchased this unit.
There are chorus and reverb effects which can be cancelled if needed.
There is a rotor speed control for the organ setting.
There is a 2 track on board sequencer for simple recording.
This unit came with an awsome gig-bag.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 8
The velocity feature is great.
Instruments are very realistic esp. the acoustic grand piano.
I think this piano is good enough for all types of music and the onboard effects are good.
The E.P's are a little weak in that there is no Rhodes or Wurly but instead something like an 80's Rhodes sound.

Reliability : 10
Extremely reliable, have gigged with it but would recommend taking a back-up power supply as they are'nt the common variety if lost or damaged and seem to be discontinued.

Customer Support : 10
Dealt with them on other units and had manuals etc. sent for free a number of times.

Overall Rating : 10
If this were lost or stolen I would compare the piano sound and action with the newer model as well as Kurtzweil before replacing. I don't like the wall wart thing at all.

Ease of Use : 10
This piano is amazing! As far as ease of use, it can't get easier. It's a piano, that you can plug in.

Features : 10
It has full polyphony, and I find the action to be wonderful. It does have a built in tremelo which is a nice effect, but as I use it as a piano I don't use the tremelo function. It has an effects loop, equalizer, brilliance control. It also holds it's tune incredibly well.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
The CP80, other then a large steinway grand piano is the most expressive and inspiring instrument I've played. It has feel and dynamics that a digital piano will never compare to. This piano is great for every style of music, except probably classical, but as I'm not a classical player I could be wrong. It has a unique sound, that I absolutley love.

Reliability : 10
I haven't had it long, but this piano is big, and it's solid as a rock. I don't think there'd be any problem relying on it. But unless you have roadies, you're probably not going to gig with it anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't needed customer support. I know strings are still available though.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a wonderful investment and a joy to play. I don't think it could be stolen really, but I'd never want to part with it. I got a bargain at the price I paid, especially considering they're so rare to find. Mine is in pristine condition. I'd highly recommend it to anyway looking for a piano action and experience that a digital can't provide.

Ease of Use : 9
It's a piano.

Features : 9
FULL polyphony, 7 band graph equalizer, tremolo, midi, not as a modern synth, but can split and use a pedal, 2 effects sends/return.
Not a 10 just for midi limitations (though for its time it was really cool)

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
It has its unique sound which I love, fits all types of music (maybe not so good for classical, lower octave sounds quite different from an acoustic one), its dynamics are the best - no keyboard comes close, you have TOTAL control of what you're playing.

Reliability : 10
It holds tune amazingly, mine came from France by ship, and arrived 97% in tune (and I don't know how it was before being shipped). I would depend on it more than any other keyboard I've got.

Customer Support : 10
I had another CP80 before, I do not mean Yamaha support, but when I needed two strings to replace it was SO easy to find. Any piano tuner/repair can fix, it's a piano. Never had any eletronic problem.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were stolen (difficult due to its weight/size) I'd looj for another one. I sold my CP80 for upgrading for a CP80M. No synth sounds like it,even the best sample. It can be used as a full 88 keys, REAL piano keys midi controller. It's big and heavy, to gig with it, I'd recommend you had roadies...;)I am really satisfied, it's a beautiful instrument. One other comment: I find its keys a little heavier than acoustic pianos keys.

what can I say? can you play an acoustic piano? the cp-80 is the more expensive cousin to the cp-70. a full-range keyboard(88 keys) it's manual refreshed my knowledge of assembly etc. it had been several years since I had tuned these gems in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in the late 70's and early 80's when I was a piano-tuner technican for Yamahacanada in that city.

Features : 10
a semi-accoustic- electric,it's authentic grand piano action has no equal that I've found in the synth field.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 8
the cp-80 has it's own distintive sound not unlike an acoustic grand piano. it's downfall is a muddy lower bass in the first 1/2 octave, harmonics that don't seem quite true in the upper registers and a decay that doesn't seem to progress evenly. the latter two I've found have improved slightly by the use of voicing the hammers. being an electric piano it records excellently. seperation from other instruments is unparelled since it can be recorded from the control room.

Reliability : 8
not speaking from my own experience I think it would be most dependable on a gig. even if the electronics crapped out the acoustic sounds should still be able to be amplified with the use of cardoid microphones.

Customer Support : 10
I was the one the customer often dealt with. I enjoyed working with the pro-musician and making his gig problem free.

Overall Rating : 9
I think I'd cry if it was lost or stolen(I'm only kidding).I do think it isn't replaceable with another make or model. I have been a musician for most of my life, been a piano tuner-technician since 1978. I'd been searching for this particular instrument for the last ten years in this condition. the previous owner told me she bought it used a few years ago from a hotel(bar?)in Harrison, Brish Columbia, Canada. It had not been used in the lounge, but was used as a practise instument in a seperate room in the hotel(no cigarette burns or ashes found inside). in other words a bonus purchase. I find it especially useful since I live in a 1/2 of a home and can practise without my amp on or with headphones and still maintain a dynamic level of expression in my playing.
