We do live sound, recording and DJ work from a common pool of gear. We record to the Mackie hard disk recorders and listen on Event Precision 8's.

This is a handheld dynamic cardiod mic. We used one for a while but its performance for detailed work is definitely sub-par. As our mic inventory grew, we disposed of this mic. I do not recommend this mic for recording at all. It's a PA mic that would be good for your church.

I have been a music teacher for 4 years and every summer I run various week long work shops and one of my work shops includes audio engineering for live performance, home recording and I also teach an extensive course during the spring and fall semesters on mixing and mastering. In the home recording work shop we have a wide variety of equipment to simulate various studio rigs, cheap home DAWS, and portable recording multitrackers.

This is a generic dynamic microphone with hypercardiod pattern.
Microphone has minimal boost between 3 and 15 khz.
Student's in the workshop all agreed that the AKG was very rugged/durable and certainly fit for heavy touring use on stage for vocals or guitar cabinet and some minimal drum mic situations. The microphone was not seen fit for any other applications.
The windscreen is designed with ergonomical integrity and is almost triangular however, most vocal performers found it uncomfortable and unfamiliar.
Cheaper then the SM58 however, hot the perfect replacement.
