I have been a performer for over 20 years. I have recorded various projects over those years. I am a traditional country music artist that plays a one ma show most places. I use the AKG D 890 as my vocal mic through a BEHRINGER P.A. system. The Mic is crisp and holds up well. I sometimes add an ART pre amp to it for certain rooms and outdoor shows.
I have also used it in recording with my TASCAM 8 track digital workstation and the results were pretty good for demos

I have been a band frontman for 39 years & used many mics. This is a cardioid model for live performances. I bought this one after a side by side comparison with a Shure 58. That was in 2000 & I still use it as my primary mic. Our second gig an overweight dancing drunk fell over my monitor & took out my mic stand. The mic hit hard on the tile floor & the wire windscreen split in half. I had it up & running the next set with the help of some black electrical tape to temp hold the screen together. I was impressed.

This is the only AKG in my case. I have a varity of Shure, Audio Technica, EV, & some low end Nady's (mostly for drums). The low & mid response are best of the bunch. The 58 gives it a run on the highs but overall range goes to the AKG. I was able to interchange a windscreen from one of the Nady's so its all good now!

I've been playing music live for over ten years. I play a custom strat that I play through a Hot Rod Deluxe, and I use the D890 exclusively for vocals.

This dynamic mic is the best I've ever used, I ditched my shure and picked up this mic after testing it out at Guitar Center. It was specifically designed for GC and is not available anywhere else. It essentially is the same as the 3800m but the casing is different. I use this mic for live gigs and I couldn't be happier, the response and clarity of this mic is hard to beat.
