My gear hmmm... this leads up to ,weather I`m working with garbage or not,and weather my opinion is worth its weight.
Ok ,I have a liquid channel strip,A universal and a few other pre`s
Wich would say that I also have a neumann mic right?
Nope...I`m useing 2 different akg`s that are affordable and work excellent for studio vocals, acoustics,or sitting in front of your stack, its pretty universal.
Yes I did match a tube mic with my other pre`s but this is about the preception and I like it just as much as my other mics.

The pattern is what you would expect.
The performance is excellent! You cant beat it for 200 bucks.
But then again its a choice for the money.
Those that dont have a grand to spend on a mic should question further, exactly what a thousand dollar mic will get you, then compare what you get in comparison to a 200 dollar Akg.
The Akg is just fine w/o a dollar sign in front of it.

I use it for evrything and I get excellent results in my studio and no one questions me when I put this mic in front of them.

Playing music for well over 15 years. Recorded on everything from a 4-track cassette recorder, korg d1600, worked with friends in professional studios using pro tools DAW, record at home with a very cheap setup. m-audio buddy into Reaper, AKG Perception 200, couple Small Diaphragm condensers, various dynamic mics, etc. lots of cheap stuff. Record using Creative noise cancelling headphones, mix with a pair of nady studio headphones, crappy home stereo and car stereo. Used an Oktava mk-319 more than any other LDC mic. couple really expensive mics i didn't want to touch in pro studios. don't remember names. heard other cheaper mics like samson c01 and m audio nova and behringer c-1, blegh.

Overall Rating : 9
Large Diaphragm Condenser microphone. mainly using it for vocals and some acoustic instruments. Guitar, hand drums, overhead drum mic on full set. i try multiple mic placements for each instrument. i'm using it in my home project studio for personal songwriting and reference so i have plenty of time to experiment. When recording vocals, if they're loud, back up. do not overload the mic. sound is VERY honest. not much of a hyped high end or mids. bass is solid but not enhanced and the bass roll off switch is nice in the event things get a little too muddy. the -10db switch is also nice in loud instances! most other mics in this price range have very few, if any, features. when recording acoustic guitar, placement is key. like i said before, the mic is very honest. what you put into it is what you'll get out. it's very sensitive but not overly so that it's picking up the phlegm in my lungs moving around. i like it.

i bought this mic because i was wanting a good all around mic to use for various applications. a microphone that could sound good on everything from male tenor vocals and rappers belting out how hard they are to acoustic instrument and drum recording and wouldn't break the bank. i was working on about a $100 budget and i found this gem on ebay for $49 + $23 shipping that included a (sturdy!) hard case and (equally sturdy) shockmount. there are great deals to be had out there and this is definately one of them. They are discontinued but can be found used for $70-$140 online. mine was in great condition with only 1 very minor cosmetic flaw and original padding in case was missing with substitute foam put in it's place.

also, i noticed this mic feels very solid. seems to be well crafted for something made in china.

Overall, an absolutely great deal! If you're looking for a mic that's going to sound absolutely pro, you may want to save up a couple more hundred bucks and shop around the $300-$500 new and used condensers. however, if you're looking to put together a great home studio on a budget for demos or self produced albums, DEFINITELY CHECK THIS MIC OUT! I've put together some VERY quality recordings that have surpassed my expectations. better than any cheap behringer, m audio, or cheap samson mic. more features and better quality for the dollar!
