Reviewer Background :
I have been recording for the last 8 years in my home studio and elsewhere. My studio is built around a protools setup on windows xp. I use a variety of reference monitors, but mainly Samson 65a's.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a hypercardiod "low frequency, high SPL mic" in Apex's words. I think of it as the best kick drum mic I have ever used. This little bugger is small and easy to place in the hole. I have used others, mainly the one-trick D112. Don't get me wrong, that's a good mic... but all it can do is the rock kick sound. The apex captures that and more. I think the biggest advantage this mic has over others is it's small size. Not to mention the price.
