I love the Pro25. I recently had to record a boogie 4x12 with the guitarist squawking about his tone not being able to "breathe" unless his head was at least at 5! Close mic'ed that's somewhere around 140db. None of my 57's sounded good at all. But the pro25 seemed to capture the tone and bottom end smoothly while still keeping a nice chime and sparkle on the upper mids and highs. I've always liked this mic on kick for it's smooth punch. But I was surprised how nice it handled the high SPL.

Reviewer Background :
I've been writing, recording, and performing for nearly 25 years. Over the last 15 years I've done live sound engineering for mid sized venues (500 - 1250 capacity). I typically work with pop and rock bands.

I didn't see any reviews for these mics and thought I would add a reveiw to those that may be interested in purchasing a couple of these mics. These really are great mics. I tend to use them on toms as this mic delivers a nice smooth low end sound without being too boomy. I really like the design of the mic as it's small enough to cover the drum without getting in the way of the drummer like an sm57 might. I run a beta 52a on the kick drum but have tried the Pro25 just for experimental purposes and it does sound really good. I don't think I would ever use it over the beta 52a but in a pinch I would have no reserve in using it for kick. I've never really tried using this mic for guitar cabs, but I have heard it does a good job too. I've seen these go relatively cheap used and would definitely recommend them. They serve my live sound purposes perfectly so there really is nothing bad I can say.
