Reviewer Background
:
I have been working and producing in recording studios for 20 odd years, as an engineer and an artist, guitarist and vocalist, I started back in the days of Atari's and reel to reel tape and know obviously on to digital. I have recorded many styles of music and also done the odd radio commercials. I always seem to go for the CR73-II when I start a live session.

This is a German made, apparently hand crafted large diaphragm studio condenser microphone with two selectable polar patterns and operates on phantom power, rumour has it that Neumann had taken legal proceedings against BPM to stop production of this model as it was too similar to one of there own existing models. I do indeed have other mics at my studio AKG 414 ULS, OKTAVA 219, SENHEISER MD 421, and have hired for use many others including Neumann u87 and RCA's. The CR73-II certainly compares to the very best Microphones that I have used, it has a warm transparent sound that is brilliant for vocals, acoustic guitars and anything else for that matter. I acquired this microphone as a gift from a friend and I have no clues as to of how much it was purchased for but have seen a used one recently sell on eBay for 395.00 euros. In my honest opinion if you can source one of these mics, don???t give it a second thought, I think it's got the makings of a real classic.
