Reviewer Background :
Been making music since elementary school band :) I've been freelance recording local acts for a few years, so i dont yet have the sage wisdom that more experienced users have especially for cross comparisons. I record with an FMR RNP, Mytek AD 2021 A/D, logic pro 7.2 and am listening with Blue Sky monitors.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a big fan of BLUE mics, mainly because i'm a sucker for gimmics, and man these mics look sweet. I record electronic pop a la justin timberlake, so i needed a mic with a really "pop" sound. this was actually my last choice mic in a pick your dream BLUE mic scenario because BLUE's recommended uses are for kick, broadcast voice and bass cab, non of which i was terribly interested in. In doing my research i found a few reviewers who had talked to the founder of BLUE Skipper Wise, and learned that he prefers using the Mouse for male vocals and the dragonfly for female vocals. Next i found a review that praised the Mouse for its "pop sheen". Well that did it. I hopped on ebay and picked one up. The first one i got was a dud, so be careful ebayers, but the second came in great condition. my first tests i did were without any of the equipment above, and were only tested by presonus firepod alone. The sound i got was big, but a little strange. not bad, just very strange. full body, but the higher end sounded almost like the higher frequencies alone were sent through a filter. now is when i plugged in the equipment mentioned above. the artificiality i got with the firepod dissappeared and smoothed out a ton. the male vocal sat right in the front of the mix with no e.q. In fact, all but the most subtle e.q. made it sound worse! can't improve on perfection i guess. this was the exact vocal sound i had imagined in my head. BLUE really nailed it, though if I were Mr. Wise, I would have a heart to heart with my marketing department, especially since in my research i found most people thought the suggested uses of most blue mics were mismatched. Other selling points include its great build quality, internal shock mounts (rubber feet that hold the diaphragm to the capsule)which make a shock mount unnecessary, rotating capsule, and stylish good looks. I give this a 10 because for 650$ used, I couldn't imagine a mic sounding this good. If I had the cash, i could easily justify the 1300$ it goes for retail.
