Reviewer Background :
Been making music for 10 years, have been recording demos for all the bands that i've been in for the last 5. I mostly use a Roland vs-880ex to record and then mix/master on my computer with cubase and sound forge. My primary listening equipement is my Kenwood surround system and my Sony MDR-V900 headphones.

Overall Rating : 8
this is are okay mics. I used to use them for my live stuff. If you have a thick voice that comes out too muddy or dull with an SM58 these would be a good cheap alternative. They feedback a bit though. For the price its hard to beat these. I wouldn't buy any other dynamic this cheap unless it was this.

All and all they where a decent mic until I could finally afford my Audix OM7. Now that's a real microphone! I'll never use anything else I don't think.

Reviewer Background :
I have been playing in band for roughly 30 years.

I have recorded in professional studios, and at home on a Fostex 16 track digital hard drive recorder.

This is a dynamic cardioid microphone with a slight increase in bass in conjuction with proximity. It is designed primarily for vocals. It's frequency range is full spectrum. I use one to mic instruments, and live I sing into one. I have an SM 58 which does not deliver as much gain at the same setting as this microphone. Both feed back at roughly the same dbl levels.

This mic is very responsive and expressive which I like.

I could see this mic being pretty noisy if hand held. Too sensitive.

It is heavy and very road worthy. I've had one for about four years and it sounds as good as it ever has. It has never needed service.

Recorded vocals do not come across as they would using a large diaphram condensor mic.

For the money, this microphone is very capable and well built. It will serve on the road as well as the best.
