Reviewer Background :
I am into music for several decades, spent a lot of money in purchasing all kinds of pro-audio gears, most of which I do not like, mainly because of their lack of clarity and fidelity towards audio recording and/or production. I have over-hauled my personal studio setup several times just for this reason.

Current recording setup involves Mics (AKG C414, C1000S, AT 4060, sE 5600 A, RODE K2), Avalon AD2022, TC Finalizer 96K, RME Fireface 800 etc.

This review of Electro-Voice ND767A is based upon my own experience with this microphone. I have used it for live performances and plan to use it in future.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a dynamic microphone with super cardoid polar pattern. Looks and feels very robust. Minimum handling noise. Has a tendency of catching the "Plosives" - very sensitive. Excellent for live situations as it virtually eliminates any interference from the surrounding loud boxes (off-axis noise/sound rejection). Proximity effect can very well be used to enhance the singer's voice - it never gets boomy.

For a vocalist the best position is about 30 degrees off from mouth.

My most favorite feature of this mic is its capability of capturing high fidelity sound - may be due to its unususaly wide frequency response (even if it is compared against a condenser microphone). It can provide instant gratification for any vocalist as well as other musicans on the stage.

In the past I have used many well-known "industry standard" microphones but, as of now, ND767A is my standard microphone.

Scope of improvement: An optional On/Off switch would be great.

Reviewer Background :
I have played guitar for over thirty years and am actually starting to learn some songs. Wanna - be audiophile without the budget. Have done some home recording using Behringer, Focusrite, and M-Audio gear, and take care of my own sound when playing out. Listening through Tannoy Gold Concentrics in the office and Mission 700s with home grown subs in the living room... Working at a radio station and am familiar with the sound of Neumann TLM-103 and U-87 through a pro board and Mackie monitors.

Overall Rating : 10
This dynamic mic is easy to handle, rugged (as far as I can tell), and has a frequency range that seems close to the AKG C1000s that I have. It records acoustic guitar pretty well, and it is really a faithful vocal mic. Live, with a Yamaha powered mixer and BX speakers it sounds as good as the condenser mics without the feedback headaches.

It gets very sensitive when you get very close to it, and I find it hard to control pops and sibs unless I sing over the top of it... My technique needs work I guess

I bought it with the PA head that I am using and got a great deal.

Reviewer Background :
Been doing live gigs for about 12 years now. Primary system is a Mackie DFX12 mixer with two JBL EON15 G2 powered speakers. Was using a Shure SM58 most of the time, occasionally a Shure PG58 and a Sennheiser E835.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
After a recommendation and reading rave reviews, I thought I'd try the EV N/D767a. WOW is all I can say. The SM58 has been the standard and the workhorse mic for many years, and I hate to say it, but I think I've found my new mic, the EV N/D767a. Not just louder and hotter, which in fact it is, but much more articulate with much less strain on the voice. Even with the gain set high, I'd almost have to have the SM58 in my mouth to get any volume. The EV just simply flows. Not sure why the SM58 is still considered the standard, and kudos to Shure for that, but this EV blows the Shure out of the water. And the price is right, so try one and I'm confident it'll be a keeper.

Been making music 25+ years
Both live and studio experienced

Overall Rating : 10
Dynamic mic, use it live and in home studio.
Have been using Shure SM58 for many years prior.
The EV ND767A has great clearity and much more upper mid freq. response. Made my trusty old SM58 sound Dark & dreary.
