Reviewer Background :
5 years of trying to be a singing guitarist in a 10-people band, with brass section. For this band I'm a soundman too.

Overall Rating : 10
I tried Shure mics, early SM58, later Beta 58a. It's a good mic, I have a weak and muddy voice, so I had always troubles with monitor level. Beta suits my voice well, but N/D 967 is much clearer (switch presence mode) and transparent. In very small places I ocassionally
switch to flat. I tried condenser - Beta 87a and Rode S1, both had serious problems with feedback. (We have no good monitors). In my situation, N/D 967 is the best choice. Cut through and feedback proof.
The frequency response curve shows over 10kHz an abrupt roll off. Don't care about it. Just listen it. Only one complient - to me looks fragile, shures are heavy-duty.

I've used Sure mic's for 31 yrs for live vocals. Thought nothing could top the Beta 58 for live vocals, and it's still an excellent mic. Heard the buzz, and read the reviews about the EV ND967. Walked into my local music store, grabbed a Beta 58,and the EV967, pluged one mic cable into a single channel without changing levels or e.q, and was blown away by the EV. This mic is the best live vocal mic I've ever used, and I've used a lot of mic's.My drummer's Beta 58's level has to be cranked a little higher and hotter to keep up with the EV. You can't go wrong with this mic! Good gear does make you sound better if the talent is there, and I know this mic is bit pricey, but well worth the extra cost. I've been useing it for about a year now, and I will buy another.

This is a super cardiod dynamic mic. I will be using it for a soft female vocal. I have tried nearly everything to help with the techs frustration of trying to get good stage and monitor volume on lead vocal without having her standing PERMENANTLY at a 32.6 degree angle to the south west corner of the stage just in front of the monitors. beta 58 came close. I just did a test in a small rehersal room. I a/b ev 267, sm58, beta 58 and the 967. The evs sound more transparent as a whole and with more range. The 267 and 967 nearly sound the same at normal volune. But here is the kicker. I was able to get 10-15 db more out of the 967 before feedback started creeping in. That in itself was worth the price. Great bottom end for female vocals. It is proably overkill for my acoustic duo. But nice to have for those situations were you are sharing the stage with many other full size acts. the sound guy will thank you sooner or later. Sorry i dont give out 10s

Dynamic Vocal Mic. I use a 767, and I'm very satisfied. It delivers all I could ask. I play small venues (when I play at all). Here's the problem and the solution.

My daughter is a metal queen, and plays in extremely high decibel environments. She has used shures, AKGs, and my ND767. None of them could cut throught he mix without feeding back (all PAs from 400 watts to 2000 watts.

Enter the ND967. Loud, louder, loudest. It's a 767 on steroids. It's actually attenuated on the high, but smoothly sloping so as not to be noticed as a "lack of highs."

This is the perfect mic for someone who plays where there is LOTS of noise.
