Reviewer Background :
I've been in the broadcast industry for 25 years. I mostly do repair and installation, but also have some production and voice over experience. We use mikes for live on-air announcing and recording to analog tape and/or hard drive.

Overall Rating : 9
The RE-20 is a dynamic cardioid mike that has been a broadcast industry standard for years. It is my favoite on-air announce mike. I like the fact that it does not have a pronounced proximity effect like so many other dynamic mikes and it has a bass roll-off switch to get rid of any boomyness that some voices might have. This mike is so good you don't really need any processing, except perhaps for some female voices with excessive sibilence. The only downside to the mike is that it's heavy, you need a good sturdy mike arm with the extra stiff springs to support it. Do spend the extra $100 and get the spider shock mount for it.
