Reviewer Background :
I have been recording writing and producing for 20 years. I am an engineer/producer at Gargoyle Studios. We record to a tascam x48 or a fostex d1624 using genelec 1030 monitors in a live end deadend controlroom.

Overall Rating : 9
The gt67 is a large diagphram tube condenser wit 3 polar patterns cardoid omni and figure 8. The mic excels as a room mic and is also great for vocals. When we purchased this microphone we compared it to a rode and found the rode to pickup more ground noise transfered from the floor when used with a shock mount. It was also compared to an akg tube I am a huge fan of the 414 and 451 but the gt was superior to the akg tube mic. It is a great mic for vocals and room mics. It could be used for overhead but a small diagphram mike will respond better to transients a large diagphram is usefull for overhead micing whem the drummer has allot of wash or cheap cymbals so the slower response of the large diagphram will help hide some of the low quality cymbal sound and give you more of a vibe than accurate sound. It is good for acoustic guitar and as a mid side mic also.
