Reviewer Background
:
I have been playing and recording for 39 years (since I was 11)
I have recorded and produced in major studios as well as my home studio
At present I'm using Cubase 4 and high end tube gear - mics (like the Soundelux 251e and AT4060) and tube preamps (like the UA LA610 for one)and other preamps like Focusrite, Presonus, Joemeek, etc.
I am monitoring through KRKs, Event 20/20 BAS, JBL L36 and pyramids

Large Diaphram Dynamic Microphone
Using it in my studio on my guitar cabs
Replacing Audix i5 dynamic mics and RSM4, RSM5 and Cascade Fat Head ribbon mics. I was going to have my RSM5s modded until I tried the PR30. I own one am I'm in the process of buying four more
THIS MIC ROCKS!!!! I have never heard a mic capture the detail and nuances of my guitar sound like this mic. It is clean, puncy and articulate. It has a nice detailed high end, a forward and present midrange (without being annoying)and a tight big bottom that you can "feel" (and absolutely no mud). It's like getting a Royer ribbon mic for $249 instead of $1300. If you are fussy about your sound, and have never been able to get what you hear in the room recorded, this mic is for you. I did some emailing to Bob Heil before I bought it, to find out if this was right for me. What a great guy! He answered all my questions...the same day! He aims to please and is very proud of his mics (and rightly so)
