Heil Sound PR22

I have been playing music for 9 years and I have been recording and doing session work in other studios for the past 5 years. I am using a presonus firestudio into my desktop pc. I use sonar 6 producer.

This is a dynamic mic that thinks it is a condenser. I haven't had the chance to record with this yet, but i mainly bought it for live vocals. I had been using an sm58 for my go to vocal mic unitl I found this thing. I A/B-ed the two along with a beta58 and an om-2 and the heil mic smoked every single one of them big I time. THe sound is crisp and articulate unlike any dynamic mic I have ever used. I'm not sure how the upper end audix compare. I just tried the om-2. The low end is pretty flat and true to the actual tone of the voice. We played last night with this thing and i ran the eq flat and it sounded amazing. The band after us used an sm58 and they eq-ed it and you couldn't understand a word he was saying. The eq curve of the pr22 is relativly flat. The bottom end is smooth and punchy unlike the 58 which is really quite boomy comapred to the pr22. This is the quality of mic that I would expect to pay $300+ for and it is only $165. If you get a chance you really need to try these out. I was skeptical at first but the sound of this mic speaks for itself. Crisp, articulate, dynamic, and smooth.; No one is perfect so this mic gets a 9

I used this mic to record vocals and it is hands down the best vocal mic in the world!! My tracks needed NO EQ!! I've been recording for years and I've used some really nice condensers for vocals and acoustic guitars but this mic is unlike anything else I've ever used! Sorry for the glowing review but I have nothing bad to say!! Bob Heil, YOU ARE A GENIUS!! I recorded some acoustic guitar tracks using my Heil PR35 mics in an ORTF setup and then recorded vocals using this gem and I didn't need EQ on any of the tracks!!! I have never gotten these kinds of results from any mics!!

This is a handheld dynamic mic that thinks it's a condenser!! I recorded killer vocals just holding this mic and singing!! No pop filter, no mic stand!! The Heil PR22 doesn't fall short in any area! How can a mic made in the USA only cost $150.00!! It really does blow away mics costing thousands more!!!! I bought this and two Heil PR35's from Anthem Guitars & Music on ebay and I highly recommend them. I got free cables and great service and the best mics in the world!!
