Reviewer Background :
I have been making music for almost 30 years. I have recorded in studios at least half a dozen times over that period, played live on stage in clubs, pubs and medium sized venues. I have been recording music at home for about twelve years firstly on a 4 track then 8 track and now I use Logic on a pc. My soundcard is an E-MU 1820 and I use Altec computer speakers that have a flat response and Wharfdale and Philips headphones.

Overall Rating : 8
This is a large (20mm diaphram)Condenser microphone. I use the mic mainly for vocals. I had looked at the Rode nt1 but couldn't afford it this one was nice and cheap and sounded adequate. I like the sound of the mic it is bright and clear and vocals cut through nicely Acoustic guitar sounds okay but I have not recorded it much so it's a bit hard to judge it properly. The mic does distort if you get to close or turn the gain up too high (or maybe I'm using it wrong) you need to be at least 6 inches away to keep it clear. For the money I paid this mic has a good natural sound, not too sharp and I won't be buying anything else unless I start making money fron recording. I would recommend this for the hobbieist you won't need to buy anything else but I doubt this mic would cut it in a proffessional studio so don't expect to much from it.
