I'm currently a producer, and owner of "Fonderiefoniche" recording studio; I've been working as a session-man (guitar) for more than 10 years in several italian studios.
I operate on a ProTools DAW, but I'm used to work with several analogic & tube outboards instead of plugins.

It's a large diagram cardioid condenser mic with solid state preamp stadium. No external power supply needed, works just with 48V phantom power. Made in the USA (wow! it seems there's still some guy making manual working there... And what a working!:)
I use it in my studio for male and female vocals, with a Shure popper-stopper filter; also used to record acoustic guitars. Processed by a TL-Audio tube compressor, a Mackie XDR channel strip and fed to the DAW.
I made a test recording the same session in parallel with one of my favourite middle-class mics (AKG C3000-B), paid the double than the V6.
Well, I think MXL won the challenge: the V6's sound is fuller, rich and warm, personal and very well detailed.
In comparison, the AKG is a bit colder and brighter, with slightly lower output.
The voice recorded with the V6 is easier to mix.
If we exclude a nice simil-wood box with blue velvet inside, the microphone comes with no accessoires. A shock-mount is highly recommended, it's easy to get one for less than 20 euros.
My overall opinion is very, very enthusiastic anyway!

The mic is a condenser cardioid pattern only no bass roll off no pad.
It is made in the usa. It is a V6 MXL. I have used it on an old silvertone with the double f holes an acoustic guitar brought out
the old sound with good results. I have recorded Vocals nice and crisp with a nice proximity effect when used close use a filter very sensitive.
Works well on tamborine and shakers. I expect to get a lot of use from this mic. I was looking at the mxl m3 before this mic also a silicone vale mic. The v6 has no transformer where the m3 does. Since this mic has worked so well I would recommend it. This mic could be a work horse for the home studio for 300 bucks not a bad value. A pair would probally sound good over drums or as room mics.
Im sure there are better values on mic but not ones made in the USA

The V6 really differs from other mics in its price class - it has a tonal character I didn't find in any other "cheap china mic", yet.
Combines warm character with brilliant and detailed highs. I've used many mics (Rode NT2A, Studio Projects C1, SE Electronics SE2200A, Shure Beta 58A, AKG C3000B) in my home studio, but this one gives my voice a character I've never had before - kind of "intimate" and "warm". A C1 sounds very "sterile", "cold" and thin in comparison to this mic.
It's definitely worth a try.
