The mic that sound everywhere, specially for vocals, lyricals (barytone, tenor, contralto ). It's a mic created in 1947, and always one of the best (and one of the more expensive, I regret it, but quality means a high price...). I recorded with 2 U47 (2 positions omni and cardio)and a U48 (2 positions cardio and 8), and i used them specially on voices, basses, cello, bass tom, mid tom, sometimes on distant overhead for the drum ( at 4-5 meters of the drummer, ORTF couple). The amazingest is that singers recognize instantanetly their voice and they love it because on this micro sounds really TUBE (without the compressor).
If you search a good tube microphone on E-Bay, you have the money, don't hesitate. (But don't be desapointed if your preamp cost 10 Euros...)
Vintage is great! that's all folks, I have more than 100 reports to share my experience.
