Reviewer Background
:
making tunes a long time - did some professional recording, worked for short time in a mastering studio - did an audio/digital course at highly respected university when Digital first appeared (the old Macs and Steinberg - the world was on fire!). Plenty of live experience, also worked as soundman and also performer. Do home recordings and some mobile now. Used all types - analog r2r now strictly digital.
Use either a set of Sennheiser HD 477 or Logitech Z4 desk-top speakers for playback/mixdown. Used all types of expensive monitors, hand made jobbies even - but now really just down grade to what the music will actually be played on - generally I test a mix in the car, on the stereo and finally in the home theatre B4 satisfied. As for having the $2000 near field monitors - forget about it.

This is a dynamic performance mic. I use it everywhere it really outperforms any other dynamic mic under $500 I have ever encountered - a true value. I have dropped this mic more times than I can remeber and it still works - I can't get the cover off, it looks more like a pyramid than a ball top - but still works great. RUGGED!!! Show me another mic you'd use on the stage and studio that can take any abuse at all.
It really just covers all the bases and does it well. I use it everywhere and just want folks to know that there are good options out there that do not cost an arm/leg combo. This mic really captures all instruments, vocals, even the drums - good response, good performance. Yes I have condensers that I would use for live sessions - but getting the basics for a low budget project, this is a good mic. Peavey impress me not with their amps - but everything else they make.
