Reviewer Background
:
I've been recording and playing music since the 70's. Right now I run protools (mbox), running quite a number of different mikes prediminantly through a drawmer front end 1 channel strip. Mainly pop/folk stuff, as well as lots of commercial work for videos and theatre/comedy soundtracks.

This one is a hand held condenser - sort of a budget brother to the pricier Rode S1. I got it for only $150 bucks based on a review in Audio Technology mag which mentioned it was a little duller than many condensers. I have a lot of cut in my voice and was looking for something like this. I thought, why not try it, especially for the convenience of doing BVs without the pressure of standing, using a normal studio mike, etc. Well, it turns out to be a real ripper! A little bit more like a dynamic mike than, say, my other Rodes (NT1 & NTK) but this actually works really well for BVs where you don't want too much competition with the lead vocals. Smooth detailed. And hey, I can use it live too.
