This is an excellent large diaphragm condenser mic, definately the quietest mic i've ever owned. My mic collection consist of a akg c1000s, akg c3000b, samson co3, samson c01u, apex 440 (nice mic for the price), and most recently, this rode nt2000. The best aspects of this mic is it's natural sound and it's variability feature, you can choose in-between the 3 polar patterns. I would definately recommend to anyone willing to spend $400-600 us for a mic.

Made in Australia, the Rode NT2000 is a large rugged condenser mic with adjustable polar patterns between cardiod, omni and figure 8. It has an adjustable pad and adjustable high pass filter. It comes with a rugged plastic carry-case and a large shock-mount. It is a heavy item, but gives a sense of ruggedness and value.

I use this mic mainly on vocals although it works well for overheads and acoustic instruments. I also have a pair of Rode NT1A's which are great lower cost large condenser mics and a favourite for drum overheads, but I find the adjustable polar patterns of the NT2000, (which has the same/similar capsule)gives a real edge and versatility in addition. I like using it for vocals with a wider pickup pattern so you get some room ambience in the mix. Being solid-state it delivers a very clear and tight articulation. I'm not sure how warm it can be described to be, but a pre-amp can deal with that.

I see the NT2000 as a great, reasonably priced extra mic in my collection and if you're after a large format mic that goes beyond cardiod patterns, this is worthwhile candidate.

10 years, 4 track recording, computer recording, and HD recording over the years. Right recording to laptop with a FW interface. Use ATHM30FS headphones and Event ASP8 monitors which rock BTW.

This is a unique mic. Its a side address studio condensor but there is more. Its Cardioid, Omni and Figure 8 but there is more. Its variable so you can mix it up and have a combo of say cardioid and omni. Very cool if you want to get some added room to the recording. It also has a variable pad and variable HPF ( high pass filter ).

It comes with a nice case and a shockmount.

Its a very quiet ( self-noise ) mic that looks and feels like its worth about $3000. When you plug it in that doesn't change. It sounds like it should and better. The variable polar pattern is the coolest thing. It really expands the possibilities of the recording process.

this mic has no weaknesses period. I've heard and used most every mic out there and this one and the K2 are the best things I've heard under $1000 by far.
