This review is for the Samson Q Snare. I purchased it as part of the Samson Drum Mic Kit with Q Tom Mic's and two worthless overheads. Stay away from Samson overheads.

This mic is decent and really good sounding for the price. Okay it doesn't sound as good on a snare as a SM-57. Few things do in my opinion for recording.

However, I didn't use this for recording. I used it for live sound. The output on it is a little low for my use. I suggest using a cheap ART tube preamp on it. This really brings out the sound and warms up the snare.

The clips are plastic and probably won't last long with heavy use but if your gentle you may get a year or two out of them. The mic is only $30 and you can still find them at Guitar Center or any of its affiliates. Just about every major online music store is owned by Guitar Center if you didn't know.
