This is a dynamic mic. I bought it used after seeing all the reviews on here. IT is NO WHERE NEAR as good as SM58!!!! I dont know what other people are takig about but I found that SM58 is much more clear and the presence is much better. I am not saying this cause I love shure, I really dont. They are not my fav. mics, but SM 58 does sound better. I tested both of these mics in variety of situations, diffrent singers, diffrent set up, etc. and found that SM58 jswut sounded better. My be the Q7 that I had wasnt good, but I dont think thats the case. As far as Q7 on its own... its a good mic. Not the best dynamic, but good enough for most uses. I bought mine used for $20, and its well worth that. I think the price to sound ratio is the same as SM 58. These mics are about %20 cheaper then SM58 and they are about %20 less then SM58. So you get what you pay for. Final word: dont buy new, but if you get a good deal on one thats used (or very good deal on new one < $40), then it might be worth it.

Im a profesional singer, i perform mostly in pabs, usualy with my guitar. i also have a home studio, where i record myself and others.

Overall Rating : 10
I had this mic for two years, and it's the only one i sing with live. i also use it to record, mostly electric guitar, sometimes vocals. to me it sound better the the shure mics most places have, so i always bring it along. it's really perfect for me in live use, and comes in handy in the studio to, though i usually use a condencer mike for my vocals.
it is very sturdy and strong, never had any problems

I've been into music for 16 long years but not as professional career. I've been into home recording for the last 3 months as a new hobby. I just have a basic setup at home. Behringer C1 -> Samson MDR 624 -> PC w/ Audacity Soundcard and a Recording software. PC uses JBL Active Speakers.

Overall Rating : 10
I was supposed to buy an SM57 as a utility mic at home and end-up buying Samson Q7. And I was surprised with its sound quality. Very clear and crisp. I bought this for a price of $23( Php 47 = $1 ).

I would recommend this microphone to everyone. I think this is an american design at a chinesse price. Great value for money.

been making music for 12 years, moderate recording experience, we had this mic for 10 months and it fell apart.. at glue points and the wires just fell out of their mounts..
worse the store told us it must have taken force.. when it is just failed glue... and so the three year warranty
diddly squat..
for the money? get one that is not made by a music store chain

Overall Rating : No Opinion
condensor but you always had to find a sort of sweeet spot for it
always unsatisfying

Short story......I bought this microphone because of the good reviews. Compared side by side to Shure SM58 it is dead. Thanks for the B.S., people. I wouldn't recommend this. There is no presence. It's a good way to blow your voice. For amateur use only. Really!

Bought this mic for use as backing vocals at rehersals and live playing, I have been playing guitar for for over 25 years but only singing within the last year.

Overall Rating : 10
Dynamic mic for vocals, I have compared this to an SM58. The Q7 was about a third of the price and in most situations sounded much better with less feedback than the SM58 used with mackie mixer. our singer as now purchased a Q7 and find that setting up the pa is far easier with less problems with feedback. This mic as exceeded my expectations for the low price

I use the Q7 for live background vocals, I've been palying guitar for 15 years. I mainly use it with a PA system based on a behringer UB 2442 FX PRO. I've never recordered with it

This is a dynamic cardiod mic useful for vocal use. The construction seems very solid and came with a (big) padded plastic box with handle and a mic clip. The overall sound in neutral and clear, something I was really looking for from this mic. I own a SM-58 mic but it seems to shape the frequency content of my voice making it more 'full' but a bit less clear and subtle, which I don't like as I maninly do background vocals. The output is quite hot and I don't have any feedback problem. I define the sound and the hardware of this piece of gear 'classy'. Given the price I paid for it (1/5 of the SM-58) I really recommend it to everybody. My singer wanted one as soon as he tried it (he's using a Beta 58 now) but it's not avaliable in the shop where I bought it...maybe the price was low for a blow out sale. The carry case is really big, I'm leaving it at home since the case of my sennheiser 835 has space for two mics and it's almost half in size

I've played piano/keyboards for 12 years, guitar for 4 and sung for 3. I've just started writing my own stuff in the last 6 months recording my own demos, now have about 15-16 good songs which will get their first outings in march. I record onto a BOSS BR352 digital 4 track, and listen through either a pair of numark headphones or if I'm at my dad's house a samick mixing board with power amp and 2 15" bins.

Overall Rating : 10
The Q7 is meant to be Samson's answer to the Shure SM58 dynamic mic. Whilst I haven't used an SM58, I have used Shures and a wide variety of dynamic mics, and whilst this one is still going strong I have no need for another. It is very good quality solid feeling build, if you know what you're doing you can get a wide variety of sounds out of this bad boy due to it's forward facing fairly tight polarity. I use it for live and recording, though I have to compress it in my computer because I record in a spare room which echoes.

I got it in a bundle with a stand, lead and clip from http://www.richtonemusic.co.uk, and for under ??40 UK, I defy anyone to find a better mic.

It's not completely perfect though, I personally prefer flat topped mics because this one bashes me in the teeth because I like to get close to the mic - and it's one heavy sucker!

Also another minor criticism is that strangely although bashing the mic itself won't produce handling noise, once it's on the stand, if you bash the stand it gives a fair crack!

But these are minor flaws which, to be honest, are caused by my own clumsiness and not watching what I'm doing with my guitar/mouth!

So to sum up, there are probably very slightly better mics out there, but not at this money, and not that I've used!.

Ive been doing live sound for a few years and have a basic full sized PA system (mains, subs, monitors).

Overall Rating : 10
Just using the mic on vocals... Have tried it out side by side with a Shure sm58. The Q7 is $10 less, sounded better to my ears and seemed to have some superior construction elements such as a slight rubber coating over the handle to reduce handling noise. It is also a neodynium mic which is probably why it has hotter output than the sm58. Not only that -it had better gain before feedback and slightly smoother tone in the midrange. I would recommend this mic to anyone willing to take the chance and try something new. I would really like to try it against some sennheiser mics or audio technica mics in the same price range. But it certainly beats the standard which is more expensive- the sm58.

It's a great dynamic mic . We have used it on gigs that have 200-300 people, and the mic sounds great for the price. I was looking for a second mic for our band. When I tried this, I was very surprised on the quality of the mic for the price. It was louder and clearer than our Shure mic. I would recommend this mic to everyone.
