Reviewer Background
:
Been playing drums live for 20+ years. I also have had the experience of co-ownership of a sound and light company.
I have worked with many different kick drum mics and also use alot of different sound companies particularly in house sound. The Sennheiser e902 has got to be by far the best kick mic I have played through yet for the price. The entire band plays with in ear monitors so we run our own mix and split snake to the front of house. I just recently sold the Audix D6 to aquire the Sennheiser e902 its that much better. The Audix is a great mic but for the same amount of money the Sennheiser has so much more attack and lower lows. I was a big Audix fan until a friend threw his e902 on my kit one night.
I use Audix D2 mics internally in the toms and a pair of Akg C410 overheads along with a Sennheiser e905 on the snare. The e902 is a great mic for the money. Enough positive and noticable difference to sell the D6 and get the e902.
