pencil condenser mic cardoid pattern.
using on behringer IMP preamps.. and preamps in a M-audio mobile pre usb.
Tried it on drums, vocal and classical guitar.. Needed a cheap drum mic set and though this one would be good because it is Studiospares own branded OEM mics... I was not impressed with this mic at all.. I compared it directly to an AKG C900 and a Studio Projects B1..The main problem that let down the S900 was its awfull of axis rejection.. It was practically an omni polar pattern (picks up sound from 360 degrees).. Where as the other mics were a lot more directionl and focused.. I also thought the mic just sounded tinny it was over sensitive and useless for live as it would feedback immediately! On a classical guitar the AKG C900 sounded 10x better than the S900.. The claims that the S900 sounds like AKG 451 are unlikely to be true.. I know this mic is cheap but I can get better ones cheaper I think a Behringer c2 is better you get two for same price! lol
