Ditto the preceeding review.

My prior mic. since 1978 was an astatic JT-30. Have played a cherub since about 2003. When both mic.s and all my gear were stolen a couple years ago, I replaced the cherub within 48 hours, but haven't yet gotten around to replacing the Astatic.

The Cherub is way less prone to feed back, weighs a couple grams, slips between fingers, about the size and diameter of a cigarette butt. It feels pretty close to playing without any mic.

The Cherub can play CLEAN or DIRTY depending on how you shape the tone by how hard you cup your hands which increases the pressure on the diaphram and overdriving the signal -- pretty much on demand. Even when plugged straight into a p.a via a d.i. box with no amp, you can alternate between a chicago blues tone and cleaner sound by varying the pressure. Here's a link to a live show I did playing direct into the p.a. via a d.i. box with no effects, which shows some of the tonal variety you can get.

http://www.archive.org/details/nm2007-04-06.flac16 -- tracks 8 & 9.

Sounds great through a honking bassman, my '65 vibochamp or even a Peavey. Amplified, it has a different tone than a JT-30, more like a Shure SM-57, but less prone to feedback then either mic, and the squeeze-and-release distortion effect is especially potent through the 6v6's.

Very versatile little mic. and has been 100% reliable. Highly recommended.

I've been in it for 22 years.
live performances for the duration.
I Sing, play Gtr, Harmonica.
I have recorded many demos and run live sound, and I create my own music..

This mic is very versatile.. I can get nice cleans and varying degrees of dirty .. The looser the cup, the cleaner the tone.
you can attain so many colors of tone just by closing the cup of your hand ie: the tonal capabilities are limited only to how many shapes you can make your cup into.and if you decide to suffocate the harp with a tight cup you will enter Brown Sound areas of Killer Honking Distortion...almost limitless.....

It's so light and easy to work with, I am having an absolute blast using this thing.. I've been playing harmonica for about 13 years.
It's so light you could play for an entire night...
It is my first harmonica mic, and compared to holding on to a dynamic mic, a harp, and holding it all in place I cannot believe the advantages this product provides... Great Job to Jerry and the team at Harpworks... These guys are so small they do not have a website yet.. E-bay is the only way to get one aside from direct mail... This is a Cherub Harmonica Mic From Harpworks in Ca. It's a Condenser I believe... Don't worry about that though..ACES!
I send it into a Rivera Chubster 55..
I was considering the Green Bullet and a JT30.

My favorite aspects are the size, design, ergonomics, and specifically the placement of the vol. knob
Highly reccomended..The Sound is Tremendous !!!!!!!
If you play Harmonica you could buy this ( as I did ) sight unseen on ebay and be happy.
