I really did not like the Gemini. First Of all I wanted to get a neumann. But some people in the stores told me that the gemini was very good. So that's why I've bought that pos.
For recording male vocals is it terrible.
Also when you record female voice's, the voice is thin and sound like you're singing in a can of beer.
So had to sell it for 300 euro's less. Because nobody want's it.
And if you be enoughst, you can't get a tube mice for that price.
If you want a good mic, buy a neumann or a gefell

I have been making music for thirty five years now and have done much music making. I first went into the recording studio at nineteen and worked in one of the best recording environments around in Pompano Beach. I am recording now onto a Korg 32XD and am quite happy with it. I listen on a set of Phillips headphones. I have a set of nice monitors but they don't tell the story like the Stereo does after mastering.

I am using the double tube sE Gemini. It sits in it's shock mount above an AKG 414 TLII at about head level. So.....Here's the story. I bought this mic with the idea it would do what I wanted the Neumann to do. Now, not having much experience I pluncked down $1400 with the idea the magic sound would eminate. It was pretty darn good. But good old spoiled me I had to have the Sputnik, AKG 414 and the TLM-103. This is amoungst the other mics like the Groove tubes GT55. Darn Nice tone. Anyway money got tight. I sold the Gemini. Artists would come and go. We would record. In the end I had a cut I did on the Gemini. Everybody would ask about that cut. HMMMMMMmmmmmmm!! I have worked with the TLM - 103. This is a studio mic; Neumann!!! Yea I cut a bunch of songs on it and mastered one. I got the appropriate responses. I just had to have another Gemini. Poof! There it was on E-bay. I grabbed it on a whim. Got it, plugged it in. The goofy song I played chimed with all the magic I was looking for. This is the Mic.

I'm currently studying at SAE, been in live sound for 2 years and would now call myself a pretty decent studio engineer. Recording to Pro Tools and 2" 24tr Apogee take through SSL G & K, various Digidesign control surface setups, Yamaha O2R, Mackie DXB, TL Audio Valve, Neotek Super Analogue console... Personally I only own an Mbox and cheap Behringer mic.

This mic retails for $2000 AUD... It is one of only 2 DUAL tube preamp mics.
I've used for everything- kick drums, OH, Room mic, vox, gtr...
We were A/B ing during a Rock session with a male vocalist. It was up against industry standard Neumann U87 ($4000 AUD). The Neumann sounded good, but it muffled his voice in the low mids and took away some upper mid definition. The Gemini added so so much more clarity, however provided more sibilance- microphone technique gentlemen (and ladies): moved it around to catch the middle of the flame, tilted it upwards to capture more of that fat body and angled it off axis to eliminate the 'ssss' 'pppp'....
This mic is simply warm, defined and gorgeous- it does not scuplt the vocal and the clarity is awesome- of course, as I always say, horses for courses. If you're after a mic that has detail, depth, warmth and clarity the Gemini will serve you very well- plus it's priced far to well!
Also, heaps of students use this mic- it has stood the test of time, i believe it's been in service for 2 years now. It gets powered up and down every session (2,4,6 or 8 hours) 7 days a week. Carted from the supervisors office (all mics are kept here) to the studio's and back.
NB: it's a heavy mic- should be used with a heavy duty stand or you'll it will droop if placed far out on the boom- don't forget to factor this in with the cost.

I go to school (SAE of NYC) for studio and live sound engineering.
I used this mic with a Mackie Analog 8 bus to a 24 track HDR, and used Mackie 824's as monitors.

Tube Condenser, Cardioid.
Used on male vocals, from 1 foot to less than 1 inch.
I compared this mic to the AKG SolidTube.
This is a VERY warm mic and I would never again attempt to record a male vocal with it. It would only be usefull to me if I had a female singer with a high voice. For that purpose, this mic might sound nice, but the SolidTube is 300 bucks less, sounds better, and is much more versitile.

I have been recording for about ten years and I have a constantly growing project studio. I use a PC-based DAW, with Tannoy Reveal active monitors.

Huge twin-tube condenser. Cardiod pattern only. Sounds absolutely incredible. I've used just about every mic out there and this blows everything away. I use it for vocals. For half the price of a Neumann U87, the Gemini is the mic to get, period. Compare it to any mic at all and you'll be amazed.
