General Features
:

88 weighted-keys with a good feel -- pro gear feel here, no BS that Best Buy and Costco sell.
Octave transpose, but not chromatic -- weak musicians complain about this, but you can do your transposing in the software if you can't play the black keys like Yanni.
No after-touch -- not a big deal if you're using it for piano.
USB and MIDI.
Additional Controls
:
No Opinion
Way more knobs than I'll probably ever use on it -- I use it to teach piano... Have another on the way in case I need 88 weighted keys live -- best feeling 33 lb controller I've come across.
Connectivity
:
9
MIDI IN/OUT (can be converted to THRU).
USB 2.0 I believe, but I don't have specs in front of me... Mac or PC. Powered through USB when used that way, but AC adapter included.
Additional features
:
8
Cubase basic software, USB driver, Soft-Synth that gets the job done...
Overall Rating
:
10
I haven't had to take this into the "real world" yet, but it IS Yamaha pro gear.
The velocity is good -- responds well to piano playing. No aftertouch. Keys feel quite good.
I've read/heard that this board uses the same key-bed as the Motif -- I can't confirm that, but I've played Motifs and the KX-8 does not dissapoint me. I have played on some of the consumer gear Yamaha and Casio stuff and they feel like crap. Not the case here.
I have another on the way -- at this price, I couldn't pass it up!
