2 way ported midprice studio monitor.
This speaker also includes a room corection DSP function and a handful of other goodies.I would judge this as a good almoust fullrange speaker. You will certanly not impress anyone with the bottom end but it has enough down there to hear whats going on.
Imaging and clarity is good but not stunning,as should be expected at this price. it might not be best suited as really close nearfield as it seems to sum up better at a few feets of distance.Cabinet seems well built.

8 inch woofer and a softdome tweeter.
No hocus pocus just high quality drivers Loads of inputs including pro digital as well as consumer style.According to the press it is the best (they all seem to be.I must say that it seems neutral and flat enough to do mixes on and maybe even pretend to master with.
I really like the port built into the heatsink and the waveguide seems to do an exelent job.

Im not going to rave about imaging and clarity but it seems to me that theese will enable you to make mixes that translates well.
There is no such thing as areference speaker to judge them all,but in this pricerange this seems to be a real good candidate.
I compared theese with some cheaper 8 inchers and the controlled neutrality combined with modern sounding crispiness, theese ones sounded the best hands down. However I did not compare them to a bucnh of genelecs or ADAMs just simply because thoose speakers where not availible to me.Neither did I compare them with sub-sat sytems wich can sound really nice but I just dont like to combine my bass into one speaker dual voicecoil or not.

The DSP functions are nice.Hopefully the chips wont fry in the long run.Generally you can do some nicer corrections to compensate for poor room responce than you can normally do with just tweeter /bass adjustments.Setup is easy.

I think as a 8 inch speaker that is supposed to cover the entire range without sub theese ones are good enough to mix with.
They do have enough bass for the techno at loud volume that I mess around with.

These are studio monitors. 2 way speakers. Amplified. I think they're pretty substantial in dimension. Definitely not for real small studios. I have no idea about enclosure materials. I'm a musician. If they sound good..

How would you rate the speaker's overall sound? SUPERB. Best I have ever heard in 15 years of project studio recording. Incredibly natural sounding and lend themselves to HOURS of listening without ear fatigue. I am blown away. One does NOT need a sub woofer with these speakers. They pick ALL the low range stuff (808 sine waves, etc etc). Put it this way, they make my windows rattle. As reviews say, the stereo imaging is out of this world. I have not been able to get them to distort at any level. Best part is that I can hear SO much more in my mixes than I could on my Blue Sky system. I will have to go and remix all my stuff because I am finding I made some bad misjudgments due to the inferior Blue Sky System I was using.

Incredible ROOM CORRECTION feature.. even comes with a mic. Dead simple to set up. Speakers are networked with CAT5 cable so turning one off turns both off (power button in the front!). Also LOVE the onboard EQ and LED's on the front.

These are the best monitors on the market IMO. They are built like TANKS and SCREAM quality from the moment you take them out of the box. Their sound is unsurpassed and truly inspires one to take one's music to the next level. For the first time I am finally able to hear my bass guitar parts clear with no mud in my small project studio and it is a completely joy. I highly, highly recommend these monitors. They are worth EVERY PENNY. You won't regret it.
