General Questions : 8
I purchased two of these speakers in 2006 for use primarily as mains for a basement studio and occasional small private party venues. They would be more suitable as stage monitors in larger settings. These are definitely bang-for-the-buck speaker cabinets... very good performance for the incredibly low price I paid for them.

I am very happy with the sound quality given the cost. I run these through a Kustom 4100 Powered Mixer (100 Watts) and very satisfied for how I use them. If you want a small PA system for a garage or basement band and don't have a lot of cash, these are a good option. I have never experienced any distortion even at higher volumes, and they reproduce recorded music pretty well. I like the low ends coming through the 12" woofers, and the 6x12 horns keep up with them pretty well.

Features : 8
The cabinets are solid, covered in tolex with plastic corner guards. The recessed handles on these are fine, the polemounts are good, and each cab has four foor pads: there are no casters. The only weakness are the thin-guage perforated steel speaker screens that will deflect in when pressed, but they pop right back out again with a gentle tug. These are rectangular speaker cabinets, so if you are going to use them as monitors, I suggest getting the KPC 12M monitors which have the same guts but are in a 30/60/90 cabinet more suitable for monitors.

Overall Rating : 8
Make no mistake, these are not going to compare to pricier speakers in terms of sound quality, but they work well for my purpose.
I bought the Kustom 4100 powered mixer in near-new condition on E-bay for about $100 delivered, and I bought these Speakers from MF for $140/pair. It sounds great for a set-up costing under $300 and has been very reliable so far. I recomend these and have been happy for the way I use them. This system is plenty loud in a venue of 80-100 people, and excellent for practicing at home.
