Very smooth response. I use them as a floor monitor with my 2 piece acoustic act, and as side fills with my 4 piece rock band. They have very good coverage, as long as they are at the proper angle when used as floor monitors. I usually stick a direct box under the leading edge to get them at the right angle. The low end can be a little exaggerated, I reccomend using a good active crossover between the board and these speakers to tame the low end fluff. I use a DBX Driverack PA whick will auto eq the room as well as set 12 feedback filters. To me, this is the absolutely best monitor combination I've used to date (DBX DRPA & Mackie SRM350) You do have to find the correct angle when used as a floor monitor, so I'll only give it an 8 here because of that.

It has a handle on the side for carrying and it is very light. It's very versitile, I use it as a floor monitor or as a side fill on a speaker stand.
I do wish Mackie had put the input/control panel some where else other than the back. When using it as a floor monitor, it's impossible to adjust the gain or see the peak level/signal LED's. Also, since it has to be proped up a little to get the correct angle, that puts a little added stress on the XLR and power cables going in to the back panel. This is not a terribly big deal, but if the gain control and the XLR ins/outs were on the side under the carrying handle, that would be so much more convienient! For these reasons I'll only give it a 6 here.

These little monitors work great as a side fill or near field monitor for acoustic acts. I think I'd need 2 of them on each person to keep up with the full band's volume, or probably better would be some SRM450's for that. But used as a side fill on a stand with the band, they are plenty loud. This is after all the same speaker Steve Vai uses for his rehearsal space! If it were stolen, I'd run out and buy the V2's to replace these. I love them for acoustic gigs and for practice. I would not say they are a good mains speaker, not enough power or air moving capability for that unless you're a single acoustic performer. They would be plenty loud in that application. But then again, I was never expecting to use them in that capacity, I always intended to use them as monitors and they are excellent for that.

When the speaker is playing music, it sounds very good. Not exceptional, but very good. When it is at idle (no music) though, it has a very noticeable hiss coming out of the speakers. Also, for a combined wattage of 195W, it does not sound very loud when played at high volumes.

It has handles on the top and side for easy carrying. It has a pole mount, and is capable of being flown. Easy to transport.

The volume knob came off of the unit. Due to the hiss at idle and the weak output, I would not recommend this product.
