General Questions : 9
This is a compact 2 way wedge monitor. It has a 10" woofer and a 1.75" HF driver on a 1" throated horn. Cabinet appears to be made of MDF, covered with good quality "rat fur" carpeting. It has a metal grille and a rugged plastic face that the horn and grille mount to - handles are similar material. It's a solidly made monitor, especially for the price.

Technical Specs : 9
I won't cover the specs, they are available online. They appear to be honest specs though, and I haven't had any problems driving them with 200w/ch Crown amps as monitors. I am careful about my levels (own a full PA) and haven't blown a driver in years. The RS10M does feature horn protection, which is nice in an inexpensive wedge. They could have used a higher wattage woofer, so only a 9/10 rating.

Sound Quality : 9
A VERY GOOD sounding small monitor. Properly sized and ported so it actually has decent response down to low G before rolling off significantly. Smooth horn with no harshness, easy to get a natural voice or guitar mix through it. Little ear fatigue at sane SPLs. The edge of field is a little sharply defined, but that's just a feature of rectangular horns. Helpful in close quarters on small stages, at least.

VERY happy with the sound of this little monitor.

Features : 9
Handles are rugged and comfortable to tote. Uses 1/4" and Neutrik connectors. The plastic scuffs and scrapes, but is quite rugged. The carpet is OK, but I think the corners need better protection. Heavy users will want to get proper corner caps and screw them in. Weekend warriors like me usually don't work 'em hard enough to care.

Samson really didn't cut any significant corners in making this little box a good sounding, solid small monitor. 'A' for effort.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
In all it's $$ well spent if you need a smaller monitor for tight stages, but need real performance. It's loud, sounds smooth, is inexpensive, and won't die on you unless very rudely abused. Recommended for workin' stiffs. ;-D
