This is a British made powered mixer with 8 channels, built in effects and 700 watts stereo. It is large and a bit heavy, and built like a rack mounted, desktop device, not a toaster like Mackie.

This is a powered mixer, really excellent sounding and built like a tank.

The "british eq" which is talked about in magazines is really true - it sounds unusuall good for a portable system. No distortion, no problems, the best your voice and band will ever sound. One interesting thing is that the boards have small built in 3 cents mini fuses in them which snap in. If you see someone selling one with a non-functioning power amp side, this may be the reason and you can easily replace them yourself (unplug the damned thing first!)

Built in effects processor was way ahead of its time. There are many versions of the Studiomaster powered board. Some of the newer ones are built in India I've read, and may not be quite as good as those made in Britain, but I'm not sure. They are pretty serious about quality control, I think.

I love this board, and used it all over LA in clubs. The only draw back is it is pretty large and heavy by modern standards, but definitely sounds better than a Mackie, which is smaller. This is a serious professional board, not a toy. Find one used and be prepared to be amazed.
