General Questions : 8
This is a moulded active bi-amped speaker cabinet, less than 10kg, using a 10" speaker plus high-end unit. As is usual with these type cabs, it is designed to be used in either of 2 positions as a monitor.

Technical Specs : 8
Power ratings are only 70W & 20W RMS, I believe, although exaggerated as 'peak' in the blurb. They go down to 65Hz which isn't bad for a 10" cab.
They have all the usual connections. No onboard EQ; volume only.
Weight is advertised as 9kg but mine is nearer 10 - still very light!

Sound Quality : 8
As FOH they lack a bit of bottom - as you might expect - but if you had a bass bin I should think you could use a pair of these for small gigs. Depends what sort of music you're into.

I wanted one as a monitor only. I play live guitar to backing tracks I've recorded (yes, very boring but I'm not trying to make a living from it!) and the tracks sound fine and clear.

For distorted guitar, I've EQ'd in a bit of bottom end and taken out a bit of top end. Distorted guitar sounds a bit fizzy otherwise. As a monitor only it's nothing you couldn't live with, but my mixer/amp has EQ for the monitor channel so it's easy.

I hate to say it - as in the past (when it was all made in the USA) I've had loads of Peavey gear - but this little cab sounds FAR better than the 12PM I have now sold.

Features : 8
At under 10kg carrying this cab is obviously a single-handed affair. Probably just as well as the handle isn't the most ergonomic. It has a 'hole for a pole' and the usual attachment points.

Overall Rating : 9
This cab makes a great monitor. Low-powered, yes, but so is the price - around ??300 a pair in the UK! They seem to be well-made, and (in the UK), the excellent Abyss Audio will sell you one only if that's what you want.
I'd certainly get another if stolen, and would recommend to solo/small acts like me. As FOH almost any type of music - except for perhaps vocals only - will probably need some sort of bass bin, though.
DB call this the Basic, but I think that's doing it an injustice!
