Hi there :o)
I??m into music for about 30 years now (holy shit, can??t believe I grew that old ...) as a musician at first, but then as well as a semipro producer. You still may call me an "analogue dinosaur" but I got into digital as well in the past 10 years, or so.
I do Nuendo 4 on my selfbuilt dualcore PC (Win XP of course, or is there any better for music production?) via RME without any problems.
The AKAI Quadcomp reall is one of my faves, not only for mastering, also for single tracks that may need "a little" compression to really cut thru in the mix.
My music style is anything heartmade, from meditative to heavy rock.
I am listening in stereo / 5.1 on Dynaudio acoustic speakers.

Is the interface intuitive? Not really, not since the user knows what the heck all these knobs are for.
Ok, the presets ARE as good as the other reviewers already mentioned.
But come one, is that all you would expect from such a distinctive audio tool? Get yourself a good audio engineering book and learn what compression (in this case 4-band) is all about. And then this plugin really comes to live!
I??ll give it an 8, cause one has to know about the parameters meaning before beeing able to get the milk AND the honey out.

In one word? AMAZING!!!
This thing is probably the most underrated and unknown Multiband-Compander on the market, for a rather ridiculous low pricing.

Ok, it??s true, it really needs CPU-power above the average plugin. But who cares? Get you computer a lift with the money you saved on buying this plugin and the go and ROCK!
As I said, I??m an "analogue dinosaur" and a dedicated lover of all the old great comps out there. But this thing - for me - stands in one line with them! It is the first digital tool I know that comes that close to really do analogue sounding soundshaping in the digital domain.
Give it a try, you won??t be disappointed!

I have been using plugins for about eight years now, and fell in love with this plugin for mastering. I like to go between my Mac G4 733 and Alesis Masterlink 9600 using Cubase 5.2. I have experienced a truly pro multi band compressor with this QuadComp. The only downside is that it is a CPU hog. But, if you are willing to do digital transfers or mixdowns to conserve CPU you will be greatly rewarded for the effort.
