I've been using three other standalone softsynths with three controllers for quite a while without problems, but I wanted the Moog sound. I got the sound, but whenever I launched MM, it took up all midi inputs no matter which controller or midi channel I selected, and so my other standalone synths couldn't launch.
I also couldn't open files I saved, because it crashed.
It also made Sonar 7 crash.
So, while great sounding, absolutely useless for me, and the only answer I got from "support" on this issues was to put it on a different midi channel than the other softsynths.
I've sold it, and use GForce Minimonsta now without any problems

Making music for 12 years, recording for about 5-6, trying to get more experience in serious engineering for 1 year. I use it as a standalone (so much fun) just to mess around and as a Sonar plug-in. I make all kinds of music, mainly darker guitar and synth stuff. My setup uses maudio delta 1010, monitor on Bose headphones through the delta outputs to a headphone amp. This thing sounds so clean and clear, my only setup problem is getting other recorded instruments to match its quality (usually I end up throwing a bunch of effects on recorded tracks to match the "landscape" of my other sounds).

SO easy to use and SO many possibilities. Midi mapping is incredibly easy, comes with a Reason-style "learn" feature, which allows you to map a midi control on your controller to any knob you see on the interface just by control-clicking that knob and then manipulating the controller (turning the knob, moving the slider, etc.). This is SO awesome, makes midi mapping so incredibly fast and easy. I wish every softsynth had this feature. It gets a 10 just for this.
The "matrix" is a really nice feature as well. It allows you to do "in-synth" mapping (very basic modular-type stuff), like routing the mod wheel to the LPF resonance, etc., etc.
If you've used a real synth before, this is incredibly easy to use. If you haven't, I would recommend learning on a real synth before you try to play with ANY soft synth.

Really clear and nuanced. Right away, I got every single synth sound from every single Boards of Canada song I could imagine (ha).
32-note polyphony or you can switch it into monophonic mode by switching a switch on the Minimoog V's interface. The instrument itself is mono, but the built-in chorus and delay are stereo. I don't know if it's multitambral, never even considered this!
The synth has two on-interface effects, a delay and chorus, both of which sound great and add a ton of dimension to the already rich sounds.

Are you joking? With how much minimoogs are going for nowadays, this is a great bargain. Sounds great and is really easy to use. Really easy on the CPU; never had any stability problems. The only thing I wish it had was a little bit deeper controls over the delay and chorus effects, but if you are running it as a plug-in in your recording software, who cares? you can just add effects to the minimoog v's track and tweak effects thusly.

I have been playing keyboards for over twenty years. I have had the chance to play the original Minimoog, Arps, CS-80, etc. I have done some professional programming of sounds for software synths in recent years.

If you are familiar with conventional synths then this puppy is no problem to use. If you your a newbie you might want to start off with the presets before jumping in to deep.

This instrument is a testiment to how far software synths have come in recent years. Maybe it is the speakers and the crystal clarity of digital that makes the Minimoog V sound so good to me. Most of the time when I played with the original Minimoog I was using an old guitar amp. The sound was Phat but came with a lot of noise. Minimoog V in contrast is clean [you can dirty it up with distortion plug-ins if you like], comes with presets, and you can save what ever sound you come up with. Twenty years ago I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven if I had these features.
The effects are first rate as well. I use it with Ableton Live and Sonar and it is just a monster like the original. Plus the thing is polyphonic unlike the original. There is not much to say bad about this software emulation. I agree with some of the other posts here that there really is no need to hunt down an original when you can install this baby.

This product is a winner. I like it as much as the CS-80 V. For computer composers these types of products are just flat out amazing. You might want a real Minimoog for nostalgic reasons or for use every once in a while. But for use as an everyday work horse, these products are the only way to fly.

Been making music on my computer about 5 years.
Using version 1.1
Use the Mini V in Logic 7 and Ableton Live as primary sequencers
I like to make any kind of music that inspires me - mostly experimental electronic
Using a PowerMac G5, dual 2.5 G Chipset

Interface is THE most intuitive I have used, and if you have any experience with the hardware Minimoog, more so.
No installation problems.
Automation is supported, and is rather self explanatory, if a bit cumbersome
Getting a good sound out of this synth is not so much a problem as choosing WHICH good sound you want to use.
Manual is effective and straightforward, but it does not have to be very sophisticated, as the program is so intuitive to anyone who has ever learned the meaning of VCO

This program sounds amazing when upfront in a mix, and equally as wonderful behind with atmosphere and mood.
The presets are wonderful, and you can tweak all day and still dig up more cool sounds.
And the expressiveness of this soft synth is unparalleled. "You payed how much?"
Has few functions beyond that of the hardware original, which only improve upon and do not detract from the spirit of the original. One would hope that Moog would update the hardware Minimoog with some of the features in the Arturia version.
Can run up to 32 voices, approximately 31 more than the hardware version.

The Minimoog V is worth maybe twice what you pay for it, but don?t quote me on that. Only the competitive market can keep the price of such an amazing product so low.
I was also considering the Moog Modular V, but felt that the simplicity of the Minimoog would be more accessible to my creative process. Though I still have plans to pick up the Moog Modular, as that is well is a wonderful instrument.
I love the sound quality, and this is an understatement.
I do not hate anything about this product, but if it were 500 dollars, I could think up something to complain about, but not much if any.
This plug in does use a lot of processing power, but I am a bit spoiled running a dual chip G5, but once you have tried out the Minimoog V, you will have more issues with your computer than with the program. We would all like programs that don?t suck up the processor, but there are some sounds and sound qualities that will always demand a strong computer, but in a few years, the computers we buy now will be twice as fast for the same dough, and to buy a product like the Minimoog V will not even be an issue.
The only problems I had with the program were rectified by the 1.1 update, which allowed the MV to run properly in my copy of Logic 7.
If I could add anything to the MiniMoog V, I would only ask that it would gradually become more indistinguishable from its hardware forbearer. The difference in sound is already next to invisible to those who have not spent lots of time with a real Minimoog, but one can always fine tune the thing. But if I may make what I think is a very cool assertion, buying a copy of the Minimoog V has probably resulted in my eventually buying the real deal. And that is quite a testament to the Artuia MiniMoog V.

I use minimoog V (now updated version 1.1) together with my other VA and soft synths, and minimoog V has a distinct sound itself, especially great with lead, bass and pad sounds.. Presets are quite good and inspiring. I use it for my electronic music production and it really fits well in the mix.

This soft synth sounds amazingly analogue and fantastic with its 24 dB/oct filter! It has a distinct moog sound and presets reflect that quite well.

With its specs and great emulation techniques this soft machine is well worth to buy IMO. I have also Moog Modular V (V2.0) and it is also another amazing synth. But minimoog has different character and is a must for the vintage lovers..

Running minimoogV on a Windows XP PC, 640MB Ram, 2Ghz processor. I'm experimenting with different softsynths for deep bass and warm analog pads. My main music is rock and pop, but I'm slowly getting into electronica and looking for ways to produce it.

Anyone can operate this - you can play the keys on the screen and you can hook it up through MIDI to an external keyboard. I use it with my Roland JX-8P and it's great. The nice thing is that the original Minimoog was much smaller than a normal 61-note keyboard, and in the software version you can play those missing notes with your external board. You can use the presets easily or you can start with a fresh sinewave and create your own sound. Actually, this is how a minimoog was supposed to be used because nothing was stored in memory. The only thing I dislike about the software version is that you can't really dial in on the control knobs without using the mouse. And unless there's some way to control them with the external keyboard that I've never heard about, than it just makes for a pain. I usually use preset sounds anyway because I know next to nothing about synthesis.

I've only been playing with this as a standalone so far, but from the sounds I'm hearing it's very expressive and full. I don't know how close to the original it is because I've never heard a real one up close. But it still sounds fantastic. I run it through my computer (obviously) so the sound comes through my monitors, which are flat response so I'm not really going for a huge stage sound, just enough to hear it true and record it. The presets are great, though I would really like to see a real minimoog create some of these sounds - just for true comparison.

I'm using the demo version - won't buy yet because I have Moog Modular V already and don't know if I need to spend another $150.00 for a softsynth. I've basically been comparing the two and deciding which one is needed - definately not both. The minimoog sounds very comparable to the Modular software, with some slight differences. One major one I've noticed is that it doesn't suck as much CPU as Modualr does. Modular was kicking my ass for a little while there - pegging out my CPU 100% whenever I used pads in poly mode. The minimoog software actually does have poly capability, even though the original was monophonic. Overall, great softsynth, but if you have Modular already I really wouldn't spend anymore money - just an opinion.
