Reviewer Background :
I've been making music for 18 years or so but really only branched out seriously in the last 3-4 years (if your taking into account production via professional audio hardware & software). Back then I was poor and so could not afford any of this. In which time I have taught myself everything I need to know to produce some great material. I play synths. Speaking of synths I have a virus b, korg ms-10, electribe mx, arturia prophet 5, some other vst's and what not. For production I use ableton live 5 which I am very well suited for. Musically speaking, I enjoy mostly new age, trance, 80's - although just lately I am in open mind's about trance and so am working with other styles more - but each to match my mood I guess. I don't rely on samples and build my work from a blank sequencer environment(that is my idea of fun).

Computer wise I use a mid range custom made machine running a 3ghz P4, 2gig of ram, 250gb hard drive - acceptable spec in my book. Also soon to get some krk rp8's which I can't wait for. Sorry for writing an essay here but I hoped to of answered the above questions sufficiently enough for you ;p

Ease of Use : 10
Well it is a clone or "close up replica" of the original *cough* prophet 5 from the 1980's. What more can I say & how long is a piece of string? I find it very easy to program personally whilst some of you may of had problems getting to grips with it. But saying that I can't see how. The interface is beautifully created, it look's slick and is easy enough to navigate and program. Initially I had problems getting it to sync with midi in live, but soon fixed that with a new prophet update release. The usb key device is a pain in the a** but I'd much rather have this over someone jeperdising this piece of software. It works like a gem with midi now, no problems - very low latency on my setup which is great. Can be played in or out of your production environment as a single instrument. For this section I'd like to introduce a 10 because I find it easy to use, it has stacks of potential - yet it is slick and appealing to the eye and looks like the original, but behind your screen, naturally ;-)

Sounds/Sound Quality : 9
well I would like to think that I am giving an honest review, and I would love to bring this thought to this section aswell. Having heard the prophet 5 in tracks from the 80s, I think this is a masterpiece done very well. I would like to say that it is very close, and it does sound very impressive. Sure it sounds 80's, lots of analog feeling - and all of the sounds made with this instrument do have analog characteristics. Infact, you will more than likely recognize many of the sounds. The only thing I can think of which would hinder the "precision" of the sound is the ability to fine tune the knobs. Trying to tweak software is abit harder using a mouse, but it can be done to accuracy. So for sounds? - they are amazing and fat. It should sound good in any tracks including trance, but I'll leave that upto you. This is one powerful and potential instrument. It also comes with the prophet vs which is amazing also. All in all this is a bare review because there are already in depth reviews on this covered out there which I don't have time to do right now. I will knock off 1 ONLY because of the mouse n tweak problem (if you have a hardware controller then 10) - will the sounds amaze you? they should do.

Overall Rating : 10
It is worth the money I paid for it, which was ?119.99. For that price your getting the best prophet 5 take on and more. I would compare to the pro-53 but that would be unfair since I have not used that - and you could tell from other reviews out there. Personally I'm very happy with my prophet 5, it looks good, is easy to use and sounds amazing. It has never crashed on me and is very stable. I chose this plugin because I wanted prophet 5 sound without forking out 2 grand for a hardware original. Cheers!
