Reviewer Background
:
Twenty years of country-punk guitar bashing.
Running a mac-osx 10.5, and using Garageband for home recording, looping mostly drums and bass. Sometimes a little foreign instrumentation is called for, hence my recent purchase of Whole Lotta Country by Big Fish Audio.
A caveat- I am commenting only on the pedal steel loops which was the sole reason I purchased this collection.

They claim these tracks to be "loops" as they are .aiff files, and compatible with Garageband. However, since one might infer that these steel guitar bits, when pasted together from like keys and time signatures would begin to sound like music...not so. These samples are just a few licks, each performed in several differnt keys. It's not possible to construct an entire composition that makes sense. I purchased a collection of inspiring country loops from Sound FX (based in Sweden?) that leaves this abomination in the dust. Mind you...I'm speaking only of the pedal steel loops here.

They sound fine but really can only be used as accent in recording. It would be impossible to use these loops and have the pedal steel be a meaningful feature

$79.00 down the drain. Old & Alt Country by Sound FX was a steal at half that but I've run it into the ground. Whole Lotta Country is not the answer if you're using Garagband
