23 Years as a musician, 10 years as an engineer/producer.
Just bought Melodyne Uno upgrade from the free version that comes with MBox Factory ($99 upgrade). Trying to use this as a Re-Wire client in a Pro Tools session. Using a Mac G5 Quadcore.

Ease of Use : 4
Not very intuitive, but reading the entire manual helped (ugghhhh). Too many functions that are very important for most applications of this product are burried in text of the manual. I printed out a copy of the manual and went through it with a high lighter to make sure I didn't miss critical info.

Sounds/Sound Quality : 7
Sound quality is okay, but pitch correcting a human voice still sounds weird on some notes, especially transitions, even with the transition tools available.

Overall Rating : 1
The application crashed 6 times in an hour and a half running as a Re-Wire in Pro Tools!!! This is terrible! It crashed 2 times in an hour running as a stand-alone editor. I am completely frustrated and feel like I am wasting my time with a buggy piece of software. I don't want to be saving every edit just to cover myself for the next inevitable crash. I wish I had saved my money and purchased AutoTune instead. DON'T BUY MELODYNE!!! The demo seemed cool and so I bit and now I am sorry and out a hundred bucks.

Wow, it looks like I am not the only one with poor customer service issues with this company. The remarks from 'Pro Bass Player' below fit my own situation and experiences almost exactly. I bought UNO 1.5 to use with Cubase and rewire wouldn't work, not ever. Which essentially rendered the software useless except as a standalone editor. Talked for a month with the company, they basically told me that they knew of the problem, but since it only happened on occasion that I was out of luck, out of money and that I could go F myself. When it all boiked down they told me to piss off.

Ease of Use : 1
Easy. But like the other 2 reviewers, my software wouldn't work as advertised. I have a door stop, not much else.

Sounds/Sound Quality : 1
Again see above. Poor customer service so who cares what it sounds like? Can't get it to work right.

Overall Rating : 1
Will never buy Celemony again and I warn all of my colleauges about them. I have a busy studio in Santa Barbara California and now that Waves came out with thier vocal bundle I am completely satisfied. Celemony treats thier customers like a doormat.

I am in the music biz for almost 20 years now. I work a lot in professional sound studios as both musician and producer.

Ease of Use : 8
It's a bit tricky to understand first (that's why I give it a 8 only), but then it works like a charm. I have used it with Pro Tools, Logic and Cubase SX 3 on both Macs and PCs and have never faced any problems. I don't know what the previous dude has to rant about.

I sometimes wish they had a pencil tool to draw a pitch curve. That would make editing even easier. But it's ok as it is now.

Sounds/Sound Quality : 10
I hate the sound of Antares Autotune and other pitch correction tools. They always sound artificial and "squeezed" somehow, and even if your ears are not trained, you can tell that they have used Autotune on vocals.

The sound quality of all Melodyne products is absolutely unique. You can tweak every little detail (vibrato, pitch drift, timing issues etc.) without making the vocals sound unnatural. This is magic! You can use time stretching and pitch shifting over a wide range and it still sounds natural and wicked. Go to Celemony's website (www.celemony.com) and check the sound examples, if you don't believe me.

Before you edit your vocals, make sure that Melodyne has "detected" your file correctly. This is absolutely crucial if you want good results. If your audio sounds strange, try different playback parameters. Don't blame the program when it's actually you! ;)

Overall Rating : 9
In my own project studio I have Melodyne uno only, but in some other sound studios I work in, they have the large Melodyne studio version. All I can say is that Melodyne uno has the same quality as the bigger versions, although it comes at a lower price.

I sometimes miss the polyphonic features that Melodyne studio has. Creating backing vocals is much easier in Melodyne studio as well. On the other hand, you need some more bucks if you decide for the studio version. I might upgrade soon, once I have some cash to spend.

The company also seems to care a lot about its customers. They release updates on a very regular base (currently it is uno 1.5.3) and fix all reported bugs pretty fast. Moreover, I contacted Celemony's support a few times for various reasons, and they have always been a thousand times more helpful than any other software company I have ever talked to. Also, they have a wonderful online forum where questions often get answered within a few hours. I have never seen that before.

To sum up, this is an amazing piece of software. I don't regret I have bought it. I use it in almost all my productions now and can't do without it anymore. ;)

I am professional Bassist and Producer.

Bought to use with Cubase SX 3 as replacement to Auto-Tune which has been flawless for 4 years.

Just EXACTlY like the last reviewer I confirmed ahead of time about function and compatibility with Cubase SX3 and rewire.

And sure enough.. this UNO 1.50 and the newest update CRASH with cubase. Man, back and forth with Celemony, all the while them telling me it is a minor bug and therefore not worth mentioning. And then final they admit is is a bug and it will be fixed.

Sorry. No fix. The new version was released just last week and.. still crap.
Horrible company to deal with.

The worst customer service I have had to bear in years.

Ease of Use : 1
The software is only as good as the company who supports it. God forbid you actually find a flaw in this software. According to Claudio at Celemony, they are PERFECT and anyone with issues must be at fault.

Geez.

Sounds/Sound Quality : 2
Sound is much improved over the oirignal demos which hacked the audio into MP3 sounding files.
Like I said.. it crashes, the company admits it crashes but will not give me my money back. So it doesn't really matter how it sounds.
It is easy enough to use.

Overall Rating : 1
Horrible customer service. That says it all.

I (like many folks) have been using software for years and years. The bugs I ran into with this software are not user error, nor system compatibility issues. They are software bugs.

Now, I don;t mind working with tech support to resolve the issues... but when there is no equal relationship in working towards a bonafide solution, then I lose any potential loyalty I would have had.
It does not take much to LOSE or to KEEP customers. Celemony is a new baby on the block and they have not yet felt the sting of thier horrible customer support. But like ALL companies who do this, they will.

Right now I have a box. I cannot return it, I cannot sell it as it is machine coded. HAVE to register it before you can use it.. so I spent money on a box and weeks of frustration.

Product doesn't work at all with protools le crashes.
Does work outside of pro tools which is not what I bought it for.

Overall Rating : 1
Don't bother if you have protools. I emailed Celemony prior to buying and asked if the product worked with pro tools le. They said no problem via rewire. After having problems and sending several emails they finally admitted it did not currently work even though it was a new release. They said a bug fix would be available with in 2 weeks. THat was several weeks ago.
