I am a professional violinist and serious composer.
I am preparing a new piece which is 23 pages long for solo violin.
My idea was to use FREE HAND to display the music in order to avoid page turns.
I got the unit from my favorite music store, WEST WOOD MUSIC and got it home, instanded the software and upgrade on my MAC and NOTHING!!!
I cannot get my computer to connect to the unit and I cannot imput my piece.
WHAT A BUMMER!!!!!!
I wrote Tech and they sent back a completely irrelavent solution to my proble. WHAT A GIANT WASTE OF TIME!!!
THIS IS THE LAST THING U WANT TO DO WHEN PREPARING A CONCERT!
WHY IS THE UNIT CALLED ONE THING AND THE COMPANY ANOTHER???
WHY DOESN'T THE ICON COME UP ON THE DESKTOP?
HOW CAN THIS COMPANY HOPE T|O SURVIVE WITH SUCH A BAD PRODUCT???

I've been teaching music for over twenty years. I'm reviewing the Musicpad Pro Plus, which came loaded with version 3.07 software on the tablet and in the software CD. I use acrobat Pro, Sibelius, Finale and Photoshop with this product, all to process the music images. I used this system on a Mac.

The MusicPad itself is easy to use. It comes from the factory loaded with sample sheet music. You just press the power button on the front of the unit and it powers up in less than a minute. The only interface is the touch screen. You select the "file open" icon, and then choose the sheet music you want to open from the list. The music is displayed.
The software is installed easily and opens right up. The problem is that when you want to connect your computer to the musicpad via the included USB cable, the computer does not recognize the musicpad. Without this, you cannot transfer any music of yor own to the musicpad.

This muaiscpad makes no sound. It is only supposed to display sheet music, which it does.

This musicpad is great for displaying the included sheet music, which is about twenty scores, but that is the only thing it's good for. The customer support is non-existant. Don't buy one of these used, ad you will never get it to work. You will need a software upgrade to get your computer to interface with the musicpad, and Free Hand Systems does not support units running version 3 software. They won't even answer your email. They won't answer the phone. They will walk away from you at NAMM. The real question is, how long will it be before Free Hand Systems discontinues support for version 4?
