Ok, so GUI isn't good, well that's because Oscar's look doesn't work for software. Unfortunately tweaking isn't too easy with small knobs and some zigzag/zebra look.

This is one of the best sounding soft virtual analog synth. Presets are good and there are some good patches can be downloaded from the web. It's pretty expressive.

Ok, so it sound great, the price is right, BUT the standalone version is buggy, freezing up all the time on both of my computers. I really wish they fix it up, it's a very good synth, but unstable.

Been doing the home studio thang since 1988. I moved from 4 track cassette to ADAT and in 2003, to a PC based studio setup. I use this synth with Cubase SX3. I run Cubase on an IBM PC with 40 Gb and 160 Gb hard drives, 1.8 GHz processor, 1Gb RAM. Audio card is MOTU 2408 Mk3. Monitors are MAckie HR828's and KRK V4's.
Stylistically I write progressive rock. Have also done techno, light jazz, mainstream rock, ambient/electronic new age.

No problems installing the synth. Seems easy enough to program, though I haven't done much since there's a huge liberary of sounds that comes with the synth. Some of the presets are wierd but the vast majority are musical and useful. LOTS of great synth sounds without having to program!
I've heard synth plugins that sounded small and thin. Not the ImpOSCAR! It's fat!
Manual is adequate. If you're into the history of the original OSCAR synth, it makes interesting reading.

The sounds are fat! Huge! This synth's got attitude! The presets are superb. If you need to tweak a preset, it's simple.

ImpOSCAR is any synth freak's dream. I love the sounds! Just listen to the demo mp3's on AMS's web site. The sheer variety of sounds you can get from this synth is amazing. It does analog, but it also does more digital types of sounds, and with the user waves (a type of additive synthesis) you can get blissful ambient pads and bell like tones. Very versatile and good sounding.
