Using it as a vst plugin insert, direct recording within Cubase Sx3, integrates within Amplitude's XGear perfectly, simple to use and the presets are excellent. I bought the Stealth pedal a couple of days ago and am using it with Xgear via midi. SVX is controlled by the Stealth Pedal within XGear. AMAZING! Tried the Bass Wah and used the stealth to contol it, I'm in heaven. Did this without looking at the manual for either product.

Top, off the chart! I have to rate it a 10 because I've heard nothing in software that compares. This is the real deal, I've owned V4b's and Svt's pretty much most of my career and am now excited to wake up every day to record Bass within my Daw. My fingers are blistered after 3 days of Bass ripping and grooving. I havn't determined if I will ever use a real rig in the Studio again. It's that good!

IK Multimedia has got a 3 for one deal on until Dec 31/09. I just bought the Stealth Pedal for $240. I got Amplitude 2 and Ampeg SVX for FREE! I was planning on getting SVX in the first place, but to get all of this with the price of 1 item, and hardware, is fricken fantastic! I need to take more time off work to play with it all. Can't keep my hands of SVX right now, it's stealing the show.

making music for 20 years. this is the most current update of the Ampeg SVX. I purchased the boxed version from IK multimedia. This application is used mainly for recording in conjunction with Cubase SX3. Style of music this plug is used for vaires greatly since it is for my recording studio. my own personal music is a mix library music from the 60's and 70's. So i mainly use the Ampeg SVX for more vintage ampeg tones. and it delivers in spades. using an 80's fender p-bass modded with reissue vintage electronics.
my computer is a musicxpc S3. I listen through cheap boss monitors, headphones, cheap stereos and my home systems a 5 channel bose stereo setup. are you still reading?

I never cracked the manual. If your computer and audio cards/usb/firewire to audio in module you are using is set up correctly you shouldn't have a problem.
Didn't have any problems with install.
I believe automation is supported midi etc.
The presets are amazing. I dialed up the vintage BA-15 and was completely blown away. Donald Duck Dunn tone in a plug-in. I am not kidding.

This plugin is liquid gold people!
no real tricks for adjustments which pretty much comes down to personal taste and musical style.
the presets work very well. a variety of vintage through modern settings of the 24 bass combinations.
I don't think I am exaggerating when I say if you are searching for a particular ampeg bass amp tone that you have in your head in your or on favorite album you will be able to dial it with this software. the rest is up to the bass you are using and playing ability.
want to hear it?
i recorded this band in my home town.

the bass was a crappy and i mean crappy mexi fender p-bass plugged in direct and bass player was not a great player by any means. (a great guy though!) this is not the best music for hearing the bass since it is loud rock and the bass sticks mostly to doubling the guitars. but you can hear licks poke through every now and then. it can be heard on the beginning of the song mama for second on the walk down intro lick. the tone was a the vintage ambient BA-15 preset with the bass and treble buttons pushed in and the treble and mids cranked pretty high. all other controls were set flat. mic was a the vintage, mic position was off axis.

Totally worth the $400 dollars I paid. thousands and thousands of dollars worth of tones. trying paying $400 dollars for some crap solid state bass amp and try to beat the Ampeg SVX. you won't.
I did not compare this to another plug-in before buying.
what do i love about it? the controls eq and others are very lively. hundreds of combinations. different cabinets, different microphones, mic placement, eq, ambiance, and they all make a noteable difference.
plug in your bass direct, record a line, and insert the Ampeg SVX on the channel insert and dial up a amp and cab combination of your choice. if you doubt the sound. turn off the plugin and listen to the original direct sound. it is night and day.
never crashed. pretty much has everything i need.
and it's a plugin so you can use it on anything you want. vocals, guitar, kick drum. etc etc. get creative. damn, this thing is powerful.
