Easy to use & install. I have many of IK's stuff, no problems here. One of the easy ones to get up & running, took me all of 10 mins..
I give it a 10 here.

Overall sound of presets is good. Your guitar DOES make a difference.. Try , let's see maybe a Fender strat, good stsrt on most presets, some are excellent some are just OK..
What I really like is the vintage hard to find stomp boxs..totally Kool..

Worth the money yea, you could not buy one vintage stomp box for the price of the whole thing.. I people *****ing about cost, when you get so much for so little.. Be real about it..How many vintage Marshalls or Fenders could you buy for $199. du...many 1/16 of one...

Been playing everything since I was tiny. I play for fun.
Using this (version1.01 I think) in Ableton Live and Pro Tools 7.4.2. and also in stand-alone mode.
Using this on a Mac Book Pro running a 1814 firewire m-audio box to a pair of Event Precision 8's. I use a BSS audio direct box and the phantom power on the 1814 to power the DI to get my guitar to the software.

I read the other reviews, and I have to say I experienced nothing like what these guys did. Of course, as soon as you open or mount the install directory, there is a .pdf right there that says , "How to install and authorize your software."
I read it. From downloading the package from the web store to being up and running was literally no more than five minutes. I can only recommend that you read the directions. As to using up numerous authorizations on the same computer, that is just stupid. You can re-install on the same computer using the same auth code. I run two OS partitions on my MAC - work and music, and this software is installed on both partitions with the same auth code. Same computer, same auth code. Doh. If I were to wipe my operating system, get a new hard drive, but still the same computer? Yep. Same auth code.
OK. Midi automation is supported. How or why, I don't know, but there is a big button that says "Midi Automation"
It is very easy to get a great sound out of this thing. Just don't be a complete retard and think that you can get that "Wind Cries Mary" rhythm sound from the bridge pickup of your Les Paul. That sound requires a single coil-type pickup in the neck position of a guitar. You follow me? You need to know what you are doing and not expect that this can make you just shine automatically. You can't polish a turd, but you CAN roll it in glitter.
This is the real deal, but you have to know what you are doing.

As to the sound, I think this thing sounds absolutely great. I bought this because I liked Amplitube 2 so much. The key is in setting up your system to perform properly. The presets are perfect if you have the correct guitar that matches the preset. If not, you will need to tweak. Tweaking is so easy, it is silly. While I did read the install directions, I still have not read the manual.
That being said, if you know your music, and you have the right instruments, this piece of software can reproduce some of the most realistic Hendrixy tones I have ever heard. It was rather easy to tweak those to get VERY convincing Stevie Ray Vaughn tones and I am close on a few clean twins that sound remarkably like an Eric Johnson show I saw at Steamboat on 6th street in Austin a few years back that I will never forget.

This is well worth the price tag as I bought Tracks3 deluxe and picked this as my free gift.
Ahh yeah - free! There is no other pl;ugin like this. I love being able to hit an icon and bam I am ready to practice. It sounds good enough to play so I do not have to fire up the amps to play with myself <snicker> and I can just leave them at rehearsal.
I have been running this thing at 96000 and it never skips, burps, or crashes. WTF are these guys talking about being a CPU hog? I have not seen that. I have run a Virtual Machine that is allocated 2 gigs of my available ram, 7 or 8 other apps, a slingplayer, and Itunes, along with X-Gear running the Jimi Hendrix module and my CPU is never over 60-70%.
You must know how to manage your systems and running services if you want to use computers to make music of any fidelity.
Learn that.

I have: 1) iMac 7.1computer ; 2) 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ; 3) 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM ; 4) Mac OS X 10.5.5. My Amplitube Jimi Hendrix crossgrade is used with IK Multimedia Amplitube 2 ; IK Ampeg SVX ; and IK Multimedia Amplitude Live! I can use either my headphones or monitors as playback. The Amplitube Jimi Hendrix crossgrade version is: 1.0.1 7F20. Problems are incurred when using the software in Standalone mode.

Functionality is absolutely unacceptable: 1) First off when selecting the Presets Folder, you don't get a drop down list of the song presets as is seen in the manual. You get folders of Hendrix's discography and have to drill down further to reach the presets "double-clicking" those presets you get " This file cannot be played. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found. " Setting the Audio Configurations was no less problematic as my menu screen did not match IK Multimedias Figure 2.2 of the user manual nor was Jason Williams (IK Multimedia Support) of ANY assistance whatsoever (PAST or PRESENT). If manipulated enough, I'm sure a great sound can be had although IK Multimedia MOST DEFINITELY has functionality issues with the software of which their technician(s) seem totally unable to handle or help with.

For the crossgrade price, I saved being bent over. If I'd have paid the full price for the full version and had these problems, I think that I would have found a way to reach through the computer and internet to strangle their SUPPORT TECHNICIAN named herein above.

30 years of songwriting and multitrack recording. Cubase SX3 on QuadCore Q6600. Rock/Pop music. UAD-1 studio pak, several Voxengo plug-ins, Antares, etc.

Took 4 days to install. Wouldn't authorize the serial number that came with the boxed version I bought at Guitar Center. IK Multimedia's service model is cumbersome, labor intensive and infuriating. The worst I've seen, by far. Had to use several of my 5 authorization codes to get it going. They basically said, "tough luck".

It sounds OK, but I was expecting to be blown away. I don't find the tube iterations that realistic. The fuzz stuff is OK. Yawn.

Horribly overpriced, especially when you consider the time spent in customer service hell. If you like having one of your plug-ins give you the finger everytime you launch it, then this is the product for you.If the Guitar Center won't give me my money back for this piece of junk, I'm so engraged that I think I'll relieve myself in the mouth of the first $3500 Taylor acoustic I see at crotch level.
