Really easy to use, especially if you're like me and you find a good preset and go from there. I definitely DON'T do 'from the ground up' creation of sounds,
especially in FM, as it's just way too involved, but tweaking is really pretty easy on this box. For example, I edited one patch to add synced weird delays and then
change the pitch bend from +/- whole tone to +/- four octaves, and that was COOL (and took about five minutes).
Holy smoke--it has everything you could ever want. Including all the original DX7 presets, integrated effects, lots of things that sound to me like FM
wavesequences, and so on. It's really really deep.
It's never crashed my system. I'm running it under MOTU's Digital Performer, and it hasn't ever given me a glitch. Occasionally the window won't redraw correctly,
but you just minimize/maximize it, and everything's fine. Nothing big.

GET THE EXPANDED SOUND LIBRARY! I can't remember how much extra $$ it was, but it was cheap, and it really added to the functionality of the FM7.
Lots and lots of new presets.

I love this more than any hardware synth I've ever used (except my Karma). No kidding. The only synths I like as much are Absynth and Pro-53 (and the Karma).
I know I sound like a NI employee, but I'm not. On that note, I can't wait to delve deep into Reaktor...but that seems like a much bigger proposition.
