I have been playing guitar for 16 years, professionally for 12 years. Im also a music educator. This is version 3.10 . I use this with pro tools and as a stand alone. I have a macbook 2.0 core duo with 2 gigs of ram. I use event monitors.

This is where this program shines! This program is so easy to use, and run. The manual is pretty good also.
Sounds/Sound Quality

for recording this software sound pretty good. The best part is the effects and the new amp models. The older amps with distortion sound O.K. at best. My favorite sound is the tube screamer with the new amp models. The effects are really good and allow you to create totally unique synth sounds not available through any other amp modeler. I use this modeler live at practice and it works great through a P.A. Ive read the guitar rig sound can get lost once its placed in the mix. This is true, but the manual suggest adding some e.q. at 3k and 4k. This totally works! so I add about a decibal or two at each frequency on most of my presets. For the effects I give it a 10, for distortion I give it a solid 8.

Dont expect this to replace your amp or effects pedals.(and dont sell them) Im more interested in creating new sounds, which guitar rig is great at. If your in the market for a amp modeler thats versatile, with great effects then buy Gutiar rig 3. If your soley looking for a good amp sound then check out digidesign eleven or waves gtr3.
