Reviewer Background :
I`ve been playing Guitars since the 90s but love the 80s hair metal and was very influenced by guitar heroes like Steve Vai, Satrianni, Eddie Van Halen, Jason Becker among others. Also listen to Classical and Flamenco Guitar players aswell. Been using revalver for almost 4 months and also have and use the Line6 Gearbox Gold VST Plugin and the new Line6 POD Farm Plugin (the sound of the two line6 products remain the same, only its interface was changed) running them on Vista 64 and/or Windows XP Pro (i have dual boot)
Recently bought a 15 inch home made Monitor which made a diference in my sound regarding those plugins, but primary i connect my guitar through my Line6 Toneport DI and output them in 5.l so the big Monitor recieve the Bass sounds of my another Sound Card (Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro) and my Home Stereo (left and right ) are just reciving signal from the Audigy aswell

Well, Peavey Revalver MK III is as easy as any other Plugin i `ve used (but that dont necesarily means "easy") you have to learn to Tweak for the Revalver produce its Aunthentic Tube Sound and be carefull with the Cab Sims because 70% of the revalver sound comes from the Speaker / Cab configuration, there are tons of IR Impulses for almost any kind of brand that you can use with Revalver, so getting the sound you want make requier Patience but in the end you??ll be 110% satisfied, of course is easy to add a Midi Controller to control almost every part of Revalver in the Stand Alone app, but i havent figure it out as a plugin. The User Guide dont explain all of the Tweakning revalver is capable of.

Well, i must honestly say that its the best Amp Sim Plugin i`ve tried at least the more realistic sound comes from Peavey Revalver MK III but the Modulation Delays or Reverbs effects, even its compressors i found better solution using those of my Line6 Gearbox Plugin. Luckily Revalver implemented a VST Host that you can put anywhere in the chain and load your favorite VST Plugins to run along Revalver, but you can`t Midi control The VST plugins loaded with revalver VST Host.
Ok now i come to say if it sounds like the real thing...The Answer is NO, you can??t recreate for example a Peavey JSX Stack just loading the JSX Amp Sim on Revalver, but it came close if you run the Revalver Through a real Cabinet and make adjustments in the FX Loop (that way you can jump the Pre Amp stage of your Real Amp)
Honestly it will sound good as long as you have good Audio Monitors and or Cabinets (that doesnt not happen in my Home Stereo because the distortions sound kindda of muddy)...i also recommend you buy a good Audio Interface with ASIO Drivers for Near Zero Latency and better if the Preamp section of your sound card comes with at least one Tube, believe me if Revalver can sound Realistic just plugin your guitar to your audio interface then to monitors, imagine if you Preamp the signal using an audio interface with Tube Preamps

The Price tag is worth...only 250 dollars in ZZounds
I love the Amp Sims and IR Impulses Cabinets i found over the Peavey forums. But always stay using only the JSX Amp Sim because it suites my style.
I Wish there where more Amp Sims like Fenders and Engl for Cleaner and Distorted sounds and also wish improvement over the Effects like delays and modulations and maybe other Wah pedals
I never have issues running 4 or 6 instances of Revalver, but that is thanks to my Rig (Quad Core 2.4, 4GB DDR2, 1TB Hard Drive)

I've been playing for many years. My main instrument is guitar and I also play bass and keyboards. I'm using Revalver with Logic Pro 8 obviously on a mac using Leopard. I record original rock & roll plus some electronica.

Ease of Use : 8
The interface is usable but a bit clunky. Installation was a breeze. I downloaded the demo from the Peavey site and played around with it a few days. Primarily comparing it to Guitar Rig. After deciding to buy I ordered the CD from Sweetwater. Re-installation wasn't required, only entering the serial number and authorizing via the net. The manual is a pdf, it's fairly thorough but not really needed unless you want to get into editing the tube variables etc. Editing amp sims can be very detailed. Honestly I've yet to explore the deep editing capabilities.

Sounds/Sound Quality : 9
The sound, in a word, REAL. It beats my PODXT, it is more realistic than Guitar Rig, without question to my ears. I was a little concerned about the Peavey amps outnumbering the other amps, and the lack of a Fender Twin or JC120 sim but I'm able to find most of the sounds I need. Actually the Peavey amps are quite good (when I'm playing through a real amp it's a Boogie, so there is the bar). The only downside is I still can't get a good JC120 sound, however just going straight into the board works if you want really clean, just add some chorus, eq and compression.

I can't get over how expressive this plug in is. If you are considering an amp sim for recording you owe to yourself to download the demo and give it a spin. I doubt you'll be dissatisfied

Definitely worth the price, no regrets. The main thing this has going for it is the sound. The second is the amount of editing you can do, however I haven't explored this option enough to comment. CPU use doesn't seem to be bad at all, I've had 5 instances running along with 4 virtual instruments and the computer doesn't blink, of course I am running on a Mac Pro. It has never crashed.

The only two amps I wish it had was a Fender Twin, JC120 and a Boogie MKIII I have a feeling once I get into the deep editing I'll be able to tweak to get close to those tones.
