I've been playing guitar for 26 years. Mostly prog rock but I like all styles of music. I grabbed the Funky Monkey Three Pack and they were cool enough to replace the Alt. and Modern II cd with Drum Werks Vol II as I thought it may be more what I needed. They also threw in a free 4th cd that had lots of good useable stuff as well.
Not that it matters. I will be picking up the rest of these libraries
eventually anyway.
My main gear is a Gibson Les Paul Standard and an American Standard Tele through a Mesa Rectoverb 50.
I have some Prosamples stuff as well as Bob Clearmountain I and II.
Spent several hundred dollars on sample cds and was mostly disappointed. The Prosamples Steve Smith cd had great recordings of great playing but I was only able to create 1 song out of all the loops. I ended up going with single hit samples (Clearmountain I & II)
and building the parts by hand because there were no useable rock loops. Clearmountain is a great set of single hit cds but I couldn't really pay $100 + (US) apiece again.

After listening to the samples on the Beta Monkey site and the ones at Big Fish I went with the Beta Monkey loops. Price was an issue and based on the audio samples it seemed to be exactly what I needed.
Chris at Beta Monkey was great! He answered all my questions before I ordered and was real helpful. I got the cds in 3 days and worked with them for a few weeks before reviewing.
I have to say the majority of these loops are completely useable.
I already had three or four songs in the works when I got the cds so I kept my ears open for grooves that'd fit them. I was able to find them in every case! I have three of the drum tracks finished already and am recording guitars and bass now.
All I can say is I've felt burned by sample cds before. The ones I mentioned above (Clearmountain and Prosamples) were the good ones.
I do a goofy prog style of music. (lots of 7/8, 5/4 time signatures etc.) and I was able to totally cut these loops into odd meters with no hassles. I've already said it but these loops were incredibly useable.
These guys really nailed what I hate about drum samples and did a great job addressing the problems. I got four cds for $40.00 most of which will fit exactly what I am trying to do. I'll definitely buy more of their libraries.

Writing and recording music for 10 years. However have only been using DAW for about 2 years including drum loops only.
I am into rock/blues and some funky pop. Not and I repeat not Hip Hop or dance club stuff.
My recording set up is small but efficiant for what I do.

This product is the best I have ever heard period!
The variety of snare, tom, kick, HH,........ is unbelievable.
Every loop is usable. Pure acoustic sound.
Nuff said just visit the web site and down load the examples. Actually the website is also one of the best I have come across.
On a final note, when I recieved my loops there was a not from Chris in red pen across it thanking me for buying the product and hoping I would enjoy the grooves. I know this may seem like a minor detail but I have spent thousands over the years on gear over the internet and this is only the second time I recieved a personal note of gratitude. I was impressed, very impressed!!!
I have great confidence in the company and their product and finally I can deal with one company for all my groove loop needs.

I'm a bedroom musician/composer that's working towards putting an album or five together for sale via the Web. I have two separate music projects, one that is ambient/electronic/soundscape/new-age and one that is (for lack of a better term) eclectic blues/rock.
I use Tracktion and Orion Platinum as my main sequencers - for Tracktion I just import the loops directly and go from there, for Orion Platinum I load the loop into the drum sampler and trigger it from the grid (which works quite well, oddly enough).
I've had the 3-pack for a week, and I've been *very* busy laying down grooves and tracking in synth/guitar/bass - I can safely say I've auditioned a significant portion of the loops, and have yet to come away without finding something both useful and inspiring!
I normally mix in headphones (Sennheiser HD280s) and master (or what passes for it) on my Event TR5s. The headphones keep me from getting evicted when I'm tracking in instruments late at night. ;)

I can safely say that, having researched the heck out of drum loop libraries, there is no competition on the value-for-money front. I'm sorry I didn't hear about Beta Monkey sooner, I wasted $$$ on CDs that I've thrown out now!
There are comparable libraries, but those folks sell theirs for US$50 a CD! I'm sure they're quality, but Beta Monkey is top stuff and for less.
The loops are clean, steady, rocking, and well-named (an important thing if you're searching for a loop "by feel" and not just BPM). I've yet to run into a bad one, I'd bet money that there aren't any bad loops in the lot!
There is a massive variety of grooves on each CD, and while the CDs are titled with a suggested genre (rock, alt-rock) I've used rock loops in ambient tunes and it works out quite well! This is no one-trick-pony library!

Asolutley, definitly worth the price tag
Quite a few acoustic drum libraries - most of the competition sound could and sterile.
All of the sounds are usable - depends on the buyer having the right song.
The library is quite specialised - it deals with acoustic drums for rock, alt rock the sounds are powerful without being overbearing. One quality I especially appreciate is the "togetherness" of the drum loops, they groove and make you sound like your part of a band and your listening through a few recording takes that the drummer has done.
Even though the drums are powerful there is a lot of character in the loops and they are very organic.
