Reviewer Background
:
Melodic electronic stuff, for 5 years. Using CDXtract instead of a real sampler, duh. Primary listening equipment is.. Sennheiser EH2270 studio headphones.

There are those rare people who actually want to make melodic music (as opposed to club stuff, or idm stuff, or whatever) with a computer and/or a synthesizer, and if you ask them what their recurring dream is, they're probably going to tell you something like.. 'GOOD LEAD SOUNDS'. And hey, this CD is a likely solution.
Analog Odyssey has a nice amount of all kinds of leads, raw power you can use, especially if you've got a sampler or (if you're like me) an effects processor software (like Anwida's or whatever..). Heaps of analog sounds ranging from soft sweeps and sharp leads to mind-boggling fx (some of it sounds overused tho) and those sounds that make your eyes pop if you select a high octave. They're all ready to use, and with some effects added, you get this genuine analog sound in, like, seconds or something. On the top of it, you've got some guitar/bass sounds here (ranging from simple bass riffs to rich sounding stuff and distorted things), and some electro drums.
Those drums, however, are my only problem with Analog Odyssey. They're not really useable, basically this typical kind of electronic drums you can make in any software synthesizer (think Orangator), and its a shame to see them here with all the powerful leads and stuff.
So like. If you need this classic analog feel to your leads and melodies, get this CD. Its cheaper than buying several Juno's and Prophets and whatever.
